What You Should Know More About South Goa

  • Q. Travel advice

    • You can take a road trip to Goa or reach the Vasco da Gama airport and explore the rest of the state.

    • Carry along with you, beach and resort wear with colorful prints, summer hats, sun glasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and travel safety kits.

    • You can have many accommodation options in South Goa. You can choose a luxurious resort, secluded stay, hotels, or villas for a stay.

    • If you have a valid driver’s license, it is better to drive around the place yourself, instead of hiring taxis. They never follow the tariff rates and ask you a whopping price for commutes.

    • Don’t click random pictures of people on the beaches; it can cause discomfort and annoyance to the fellow travelers.

    • Don’t carry too much when travelling to Goa. Travel with essentials and emergency kits.

    • Goa beaches are more about bikinis, and skimpy clothing. Do not stare at anyone when on the beach or anywhere else.

    • Be careful of swindlers who will try to sway you into taking you to the best parties. Stick to your agenda and group.

    • Don’t let any stranger in a club or bars mix your drinks, and do not get sloshed during your stay in South Goa.

    • Carry trekking gear, water bottles, and salt to do away with leeches during treks in monsoon.

    Goa is a partying hub, but you cannot drink and drive. Do not get passed out on the beaches or clubs. Alcohol is freer flowing than water in Goa, but you must adhere to the laws of the State with regard to drinking.

    Beach stays, landscape view, water sports

    Enjoy the dolphin sighting and full moon parties at the Colva beach which is 6 kilometers away from Margaon. Taste the sea food, enjoy the sight of coconut and palm trees and the solitude at the Benaulim beach. Try snorkeling at the Baina Beach. Visit casinos, play beach football, and bask in the scenic view of the Varca beach, the only beach that does not have hawkers in Goa. Colomb beach hosts noisy parties and you can stay in the beach shacks at this beach. You can try jetting skiing, watering surfing, and water skiing at the Mobor beach. Most of the beaches in South Goa offer water sports and outdoor activities. Stay at the artistic shacks and themed resorts that are available at most of the beaches.

    Waterfalls and wildlife sanctuary

    Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary in South Goa is a different experience all together. You can visit this sanctuary and take help from the forest department in this area for camping in the daytime. You can spot flying lizards, wild dogs, tigers, leopards, hyenas, black panthers, golden tree snakes, and many species of trees and shrubs. This is a dense forest with a picturesque view for taking cycling trials. You can also trek and enjoy the waterfalls at the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. You can camp at this site and have fun with friends by the campfire. You can also enjoy rock climbing and rappelling at the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Temples, cathedrals, and heritage tour

    Get delighted with the architectural marvels of the Basilica of Bon Jesus and Se Cathedral in South Goa. The Basilica of Bom Jesus, Shri Manguesh Temple, and Wax World Museum are one of the most visited places as a part of heritage tours. The historical monuments and churches in Goa are built in Portuguese style architecture.

    Clubs, bars, and beach huts

    You can visit Agonda beach in South Goa and get a unique experience of living in the beach stylized palm huts and shacks. They are created in artistic style and vibrant colors and are closer to the beach. Do not forget to stay at the art resorts at the Palolem Beach which are made in cabana style. Gatsby’s club, Down The Road- a bistro bar, and Johnny Cool’s are the best clubs and bars in South Goa. Do not forget to attend the silent noise parties which are most popular in South Goa.

    Water sports, outdoor activities, and relaxation

    A few beaches, like Agonda beach are quieter and give you the solitude you need. These are found in South Goa as well. There are beaches like Palolem Beach, and the Colva beach are filled with water sports and many other activities. You can also take a tour packages that is dedicated to 3 to 4 hours of outdoor activities.

    Wellness, massage, and Ayurveda

    A few beaches in South Goa are also wellness hubs. You can enjoy ayurvedic massages available at most of the beach resorts and get rejuvenated.

    Shopping sprees and eating joints

    South Goa is a haven for sea food, drinks, and shopping. You can go to the Palolem beach market and get clothes and accessories that depict hippie culture. You can also visit the Spice Village, a few kilometers away from South Goa to learn cooking classes in Goan cuisine and buy spices. Dry fruits are available at a cheaper rate all over Goa.
