However, as Goa is divided into two main districts, South and North; South Goa has its own set of specialities. And we are focusing on just that. As you enter South Goa, you see the reflection of Portugal style architecture, constructions and lifestyle who established a colony in Goa in 1510 and expanded the colony to its present boundaries during the 17th and 18th centuries. These wonderful Portuguese style buildings and historically significant churches make up some of the best places to visit along with other places like Margao- for some shopping, Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary- to admire wildlife, Dudhsagar Falls- to go spellbound over nature’s beauty, Johnny Cool's Club- for a fun night and much more - these are some of the best things to do in South Goa. Some of the best beaches in South Goa are Agonda, Palolem Beach, Cavelossim Beach, Benaulim Beach, Varca Beach, Utorda Beach and Majorda Beach. They say “Goa is always a good idea” so you don’t have to look out for a particular period of the year to be here. However, if you are fond of parades, carnivals and celebrations, December to March, which is considered to be the peak season is the best time for your visit. But please note, this is also the time when Goa is most crowded and expensive. On the contrary, if you are looking for a rather relaxing time, you can visit Goa anytime for rest of the year, when June to September, the monsoon months are not very happening for beach bums but amazing for greenery and wildlife enthusiasts.
