Tudor House and Garden Overview

Spend some time exploring the Tudor House and Garden, which is one of the best tourist places to visit in Southampton, and has a history that dates back to over 800 years in time. Get a chance to see the lifestyle of a wealthy merchant family from the 15th century here, in addition to admiring a wide array of exhibits from the Edwardian and Victorian eras.

Located in St. Michael’s Square in Southampton, the Tudor House and Garden is one of the city’s most magnificent sightseeing attractions, where you can learn quite a lot about the 900 years of local history and heritage of this region. The house was built in the late 15th century for a rich merchant family and has since been transformed into a museum, where you can see displays, artifacts, and other things from the Tudor, Victorian as well as Edwardian eras.

A site for regular history tours, exhibitions, and other activities, the Tudor House and Garden is also a great place to gain deeper insights into life during the different eras in Southampton. The oldest part of the house is more than 800 years old, while the adjoining garden is a mere recreation of the original Tudor knot garden that was constructed here in the 16th century. You can also catch sights of Victorian stuffed birds, a medieval jewel box, a 15th-century small prayer book as well as 16th-century graffiti here, among other things.
