About Beeston Castles Chester

Beeston Castle is the former royal castle which was built in the 13th century by the renowned architect Ranulf who was the 6th Earl of Chester. It’s a sandstone crag which is 350 feet in height above the Cheshire plains and situated over the Beeston Crag, a southerly part of Cheshire Ridge. The other castle built in close vicinity to the Beeston castle is Peckforton Castle which is situated over the hill of the same name and built in mediaeval style.

Together these castles are marked as the important tourist attractions in Chester which are spread over an area of 36,000 acre of land. The Beeston castle had been deteriorated in the English Civil War after its occupation by the Royalists, but the castle of Peckforton is still in splendid shape and is used as a perfect venue for wedding and other events.
