The Tyne Bridge Overview

The Tyne Bridge, also known simply as the "Tyne Bridge," is a through arch bridge that spans the Tyne River between the cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead in North East England. Upon completion on 10 October 1928, King George V officially opened the Tyne Bridge, which at the time of its creation was the lengthiest span bridge in the world.

The opening of this 1928 through-arch bridge of Tynes made it the city's tenth-tallest building at the time. The towering building dates back to the early 20th century and stands as a testament to the city's technological advancements and industrial heritage. In the middle of the bridge, high above the roadway, are five enormous Olympic Rings, the largest of their kind in the country and a 2012 addition.

It was built by the same architects responsible for the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and it's a miniature replica of the Australian landmark. A fun fact associated with the bridge is that it's been likened to a "miniature version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge."
