About Newcastle Castle
Newcastle Castle, which dates back to the 12th century, consists of three sections: the Castle Keep, the Defended Stone Tower, and the fortified Black Gate. From Roman times, a fort has stood here. Newcastle was a major English city that was besieged and eventually surrendered during the English Civil War. As time went on, it was transformed into a secure facility. The gate was converted into a tenement for a while in the twentieth century.
The Newcastle Castle, with its dark past and reported sightings of a former inmate named The Poppy Girl who was beaten to death in the castle prison for owing people money, has also played host to a number of paranormal investigation exhibitions.
