About Hofkirche

Hofkirche (Court Church of St. Leodegar) is the main cathedral in Lucerne, built from 1634-39 in place of the 8th-century Benedictine monastery of St. Leodegar. The twin towers of the Church were preserved from 1525 of the old Church, among others are a few religious objects, St. Mary's altar that outlasted.

The Court Church is the most important Renaissance church in Switzerland, with gold-covered statues adorning the white interiors along with carved pulpit and the choir stall from 1639. It is a simple yet beautiful design of the Baroque gold altars that is a sight to behold. During summers, the church hosts recitals of its famous Organ, it is a joyous proceeding to attend.
