Elton Hall And Gardens Overview

A stunning, charming, partially-Mediaeval historic home that has belonged to the Proby family for almost 400 years is located close to Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. The Elton Hall was snuggled inside the magnificent landscape on the border of Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, lying approximately 8 miles southwest of Peterborough.

Although earlier generations had owned property in Elton since Elizabeth I's reign, the Proby family has owned it since 1660. The place has amazing architecture which is inspired from the 15th and 19th century. The collection and mansion, which includes numerous works by Old Masters and excellent instances of English portraiture, have both been adorned by successive generations.

The visitor comprehensively understands British history and taste from a visit involving the beautifully restored gardens, making it one of the many perfect tourist places in Peterborough. The whole house is decorated with the best painters of the era like Landseer, Millais, Alma Tadema, Reynolds and many more with a beautiful garden in the front.

It is also well known for its book collection as it has 3 libraries and over 10000 books in it. The collection of prayer books by King Henry VIII which is one of the most highlights of the place.
