About Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach stands as one of Britain's most iconic amusement parks, a thrilling centerpiece of the famous Lancashire seaside resort town since 1896. This family-owned attraction combines vintage charm with modern thrills across its 42-acre site along Blackpool's famous promenade.

The park is renowned for its impressive collection of historic wooden roller coasters, including the Grand National (a rare twin-track racing coaster from 1935) and the Big Dipper (operating since 1923). Its crown jewel is The Big One, which upon its 1994 opening was the world's tallest and steepest roller coaster, still dominating Blackpool's skyline at 235 feet.

Beyond roller coasters, Pleasure Beach houses unique attractions like the Alice in Wonderland ride dating from the 1960s, the Ghost Train (the world's first when it opened in 1930), and Valhalla, an immersive Viking-themed water ride. The park also features the UK's only Nickelodeon Land with rides themed around popular children's shows.

The historic Casino Building at the park's entrance doesn't offer gambling but houses restaurants, shops, and the Arena ice show venue presenting spectacular ice skating productions since 1936.

Despite competition from modern theme parks, Blackpool Pleasure Beach maintains its distinctive British seaside character while continuing to evolve with new attractions that blend nostalgic appeal with contemporary thrills for over a million visitors annually.
