Kiltan Island

Experiential journeys will make you a storyteller

About Kiltan Island

Discover the unmatched natural beauty and rich cultural traditions of Lakshadweep as you visit Kiltan Island. As one of the few inhabited islands in the archipelago, Kiltan offers a peaceful atmosphere to escape the rush of daily life. The island lies around 394 kilometres from the city of Kochi and is easily accessible from Agatti Airport by speedboats. Kiltan is around 2.2 square kilometres in area and is close to Amini Island in Lakshadweep.

Kiltan covers everything Lakshadweep has to offer with its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and opportunities for adventure. The locals are warm and welcoming and can narrate fascinating stories about their cultural traditions and rich history. Kiltan can be visited throughout the year as it has pleasant tropical weather due to its location in the Arabian Sea. Popular months to visit are from October to March, when temperatures range between 22 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius and rainfall is minimal.

You can also visit in April and May when the weather is slightly warmer due to a little rise in temperature. The monsoon months of June to September get heavy rainfall which makes the weather a bit unpredictable for travel and sports. It is recommended that you plan your trip for the dry months for a fulfilling experience and witness the best of Kiltan in peace.

In Kiltan, you can simply walk along its mesmerising coastline, sunbathe on the soft sands, or watch beautiful sunsets. For adventurers wishing to avoid stepping into the waters, kayaking and glass bottom boat rides are on offer here. Those who do go underwater by snorkelling and scuba diving get to see the colourful world of corals. Interact with locals, see the unique wooden boats called Odams, and try delicious seafood as you explore the beauty of Kiltan.
