Amini Island

Experiential journeys will make you a storyteller

About Amini Island

Explore one of the oldest islands of the Lakshadweep archipelago as you plan a trip to Amini Island. The oval-shaped island gets its name from the Arabic word ‘amin’ meaning ‘faithful’, showcasing its diverse cultural heritage. Amini lies close to Kiltan Island and is around 407 kilometres away from the mainland city of Kochi. You can easily travel to the island via speedboats after landing at Agatti Airport or other islands. As one of Lakshadweep’s rare inhabited islands, Amini offers a great blend of natural beauty and cultural traditions.

In Amini, you can feel the magical charm of Lakshadweep as you witness the soft white sands of the beach and azure blue waters. The vibrant corals, the mesmerising sunsets, and the friendly locals make the island a dream escape from the rush of city life. For travelling to Amini, the peak months are from October to March when temperatures range between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius.

As the island lies in the Arabian Sea and experiences tropical weather conditions, temperatures remain pleasant and comfortable throughout the year. April and May are also a good time to visit as even though the temperatures are slightly higher, rainfall is minimal. The months of June to September see intense rainfall, making the weather unpredictable and thus not an ideal time to visit for a fulfilling experience.

For a peaceful time, watch the sunsets, stroll through the beach as the sea washes your feet, and try delicious seafood. Adventurers can try a wide range of activities like snorkelling and scuba diving as well as glass bottom boat rides, kayaking, sailing, and canoeing. Make sand castles, shop at local markets, and explore the stunning Juma Masjid to admire its intricate architecture. From spotting rare marine species to interacting with friendly locals, enjoy a memorable time with loved ones at Amini.
