How to Reach Thailand from Bangalore

The fastest and most practical way to reach Thailand from Bangalore is by taking a direct flight from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) to Bangkok (BKK or DMK), which takes about 3.5 to 5 hours.

Vikram Rao, one of our verified travellers who booked the Extravagant Thrill | Bangkok & Pattaya Group Tour Package, shared in December 2025 that "Superb coordination for big groups! We are a group of 8 friends from Indiranagar. Managing a large group in Pattaya can be chaotic, but our private van was always 10 minutes early. We didn't have to stand in queues for the Sanctuary of Truth because our tickets were pre-issued. The evening in Walking Street was fun, and having a dedicated driver wait for us made it very convenient to get back to the hotel safely.”

Direct Flights

  • Non-stop daily or weekly services run to Bangkok via carriers like IndiGo, Thai Airways, and Thai AirAsia.
  • Landing airports in Bangkok include Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK).

Connecting Flights

  • Available to other popular Thai destinations like Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai.
  • Frequently include short layovers in Kuala Lumpur (AirAsia) or within Bangkok.

Alternative Routes (Land/Sea)

  • Driving or taking a train/bus across international borders through Myanmar is theoretically possible.
  • Takes multiple days, requires special international permits, and is generally not recommended for standard tourism.

Visa Requirements for Indian tourists

Indian tourists can enter Thailand visa-free for staying up to 30 days. While a physical visa is not required for a short visit, new digital formalities have become stricter and mandatory.

Entry Requirements for Indians

  • The most important requirement as of 2026 is to have a Thailand Digital Arrival Card. The old paper arrival card has been replaced by the TDAC, which you need to register online at least 3 to 7 days before your flight. It is completely free if applied for from the government portal.
  • Following the entry requirement checklist is mandatory to visit Thailand from India. Refer to the website of the Embassy of India, Bangkok, to have a complete idea of the required documents.
  • In case you wish to extend your trip beyond 60 days, you can apply for a one-time extension at any local Thai immigration office for a fee of 1,900 THB (INR 4,500).
  • And if you are travelling to Thailand but not for a vacation, then you must apply for an official Thai E-Visa through their official website.
  • While travelling to Thailand, travellers are advised to carry travel insurance even though it's not mandatory for visa-free entry. You can be asked to show that you are financially and medically prepared to stay in Thailand.

Best Time to plan your Thailand package from Bangalore

Thailand is a year-round destination, allowing travellers to plan their Thailand trip packages from Bangalore in any season based on their interests. While each season offers a different experience, the country's tropical climate ensures there is always something to explore, whether it's pristine beaches, cultural festivals, island adventures, or vibrant city attractions.

The Cool Season (November to February)

It is considered the best time to visit Thailand, with pleasant temperatures ranging between 22°C and 32°C. The weather is cool and dry, making it ideal for sightseeing, island hopping, beach holidays, water sports, and exploring destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. This is also the peak tourist season, so travellers should book flights and accommodation well in advance.

The Hot Season (March to May)

This season experiences temperatures between 30°C and 38°C, especially in central Thailand. Although afternoons can be quite warm, this season is perfect for beach vacations, diving, snorkelling, and enjoying Thailand's famous Songkran Festival in April. Travellers can also find attractive hotel deals in several destinations outside the holiday period.

Rainy Season (June to October)

This season brings moderate to heavy rainfall, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 32°C. Showers are usually short and followed by sunshine, leaving the landscapes lush and vibrant. This season offers fewer crowds, lower hotel prices, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great choice for budget-conscious travellers. However, occasional rain may affect island excursions and outdoor activities, particularly along the Andaman Coast.

Best Places to Visit during a Thailand package from Bangalore

While planning for a Thailand package from Bangalore, here are some of the best places to visit in Thailand during our trip.

The Grand Palace, Bangkok

The Grand Palace is Thailand's most iconic landmark and a must-visit attraction in Bangkok. Built in 1782, this magnificent palace complex served as the official residence of Thai kings for over 150 years. The highlight of the palace is Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), home to Thailand's most sacred Buddha image. The Grand Palace is best suited for history enthusiasts, culture lovers, photographers, and first-time visitors to Thailand.

Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), Chiang Rai

The White Temple, officially known as Wat Rong Khun, is one of Thailand's most extraordinary architectural masterpieces. Designed by renowned Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, the temple is famous for its shimmering white façade embedded with mirrored glass that symbolises purity and wisdom. Inside, visitors will find intricate murals blending Buddhist teachings with modern pop culture references, making it unlike any traditional temple in Thailand.

Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands are among Thailand's most beautiful tropical destinations, renowned for their crystal-clear turquoise waters, dramatic limestone cliffs, white-sand beaches, and vibrant marine life. Located in the Andaman Sea, the islands are famous for attractions such as Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach, Viking Cave, and Loh Samah Bay. Visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, and relaxing on pristine beaches while soaking in breathtaking coastal scenery. The islands are ideal for romantic Thailand honeymoon packages and for travellers who love beaches and adventure.

Ayutthaya Historical Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ayutthaya Historical Park preserves the magnificent ruins of Thailand's ancient capital, which flourished between the 14th and 18th centuries. Exploring the park offers fascinating insights into Thailand's rich cultural heritage and architectural brilliance. Visitors often choose to explore the ruins by bicycle or boat for a unique experience.

Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok National Park is one of Thailand's oldest rainforests and a paradise for nature lovers. The peaceful surroundings and spectacular scenery make it one of Thailand's finest eco-tourism destinations. The park is best suited for Thailand tour packages for families, nature enthusiasts, adventure travellers, and wildlife photographers.

Visit the Sanctuary of Truth, Pattaya

The Sanctuary of Truth is an extraordinary wooden temple showcasing Thailand's rich craftsmanship, philosophy, and cultural heritage. Built entirely from intricately carved teak wood, the monument features stunning sculptures inspired by Buddhist and Hindu traditions.

Go Scuba Diving in the Similan Islands

The Similan Islands are among Thailand's premier diving destinations, offering crystal-clear waters, colourful coral reefs, and abundant marine life. Travellers can discover vibrant tropical fish, sea turtles, manta rays, and spectacular underwater landscapes while exploring world-class dive sites.

Experience a Thai Spa in Phuket

A traditional Thai spa is the perfect way to relax during a Phuket tour package after exploring Phuket's beaches and attractions. Many luxury wellness centres offer aromatic oil massages, herbal steam baths, body scrubs, and private spa suites designed specifically for travellers. Excellent trip! Our discussions with the Thrillophilia team started in mid-May, and since it was quite late to plan, hotel prices were already very high. However, Bunty Datta coordinated everything exceptionally well. He was patient, listened carefully to all our requirements, and made sure every request was incorporated into the plan. The choice of hotels, internal transportation, and the overall itinerary were curated perfectly. Everything was so seamless that we truly felt at home even while being in another country. They shared a detailed list of Indian restaurants near our hotel in Pratunam before we even landed. The Krabi 4-island tour was the absolute highlight of the trip. The transfers were smooth, the boat was clean, and there was zero waiting time at the pier. Yella olledage ayitu (Everything went well). I travelled with my girl gang from Bangalore for a much-needed break. The itinerary was perfectly balanced, we had enough time to go crazy shopping at Platinum Mall and Central World, but also had dedicated days for the Phi Phi islands. There was a small delay in the Phuket airport, but the WhatsApp support group was very responsive and tracked the driver for us in real-time. It felt very safe for a group of girls.

Booked a last-minute honeymoon package from Bangalore. Special thanks to Rohit from the sales team for customizing the private pool villa in Koh Samui at such short notice. The experience was much more premium than what we saw on other generic travel sites. The logistics were so tight that I didn't have to call anyone even once during the 7 days. We just followed the vouchers and everything happened like clockwork. Truly professional.

Thailand Tours From bangalore FAQs

How many days are ideal for a Thailand trip from Bangalore?

An ideal duration for a first-timer Thailand package from Bangalore is 7 to 9 days, which allows you to explore two or three distinct regions without feeling rushed. A standard 8-day itinerary comfortably splits your time between the vibrant cityscape of Bangkok (2–3 days) and a popular beach destination like Phuket or Pattaya (3–4 days). If you want to include the cultural sights of Chiang Mai or a relaxing island stay in Koh Samui, extending the trip to 10 or 12 days is highly recommended. For short weekend getaways, a compact 4 to 5-day package focuses strictly on a single location like Bangkok or Phuket to match direct flight schedules.

What is the best time to visit Thailand from Bangalore?

The best time for a Thailand package from Bangalore is during the cool and dry season from November to February, when the weather is ideal for beach activities and sightseeing. During these months, temperatures range from a comfortable 22°C to 32°C, and the monsoon rains have completely cleared across major tourist hubs like Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya. If you are looking for budget-friendly packages and fewer crowds, the shoulder months of March to May offer great flight discounts, though the weather gets significantly hotter. Visiting during the monsoon season from June to October brings heavy rainfall, but it provides the lowest prices for accommodation and flights out of Bangalore.

What does a Thailand package from Bangalore include?

A standard Thailand package from Bangalore typically includes round-trip economy flights, mid-range hotel accommodations with daily breakfast, and airport transfers. It also covers inter-city transport—such as private cabs or ferries between Bangkok and island destinations like Phuket or Pattaya—alongside guided sightseeing tours to major attractions like the Grand Palace or Coral Island. Most packages bundle standard travel insurance, entry tickets for pre-planned excursions, and the assistance of a local English-speaking tour guide. However, personal expenses, lunch and dinner meals, water sports, and Thailand visa fees are generally excluded and must be paid separately.

What is the flight time from Bangalore to Bangkok?

The average flight time for a direct, nonstop flight from Bangalore to Bangkok is approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes to 4 hours. These fast direct connections depart from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) and fly straight into Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Popular airlines offering these short routes include IndiGo, Thai Airways, and Air India Express. If you happen to book a connecting flight with a layover in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, or Kuala Lumpur, the total travel time can stretch anywhere from 6 to 9+ hours depending on the duration of the stopover.

Which is better for a first Thailand trip from Bangalore – Bangkok plus Phuket or Bangkok plus Chiang Mai?

For a first Thailand trip from Bangalore, Bangkok plus Phuket is the better choice, as it delivers the quintessential "city and beach" tropical experience most first-time international travellers look for. This classic route combines the grand temples and shopping malls of the capital with the stunning coastlines, island hopping, and vibrant nightlife of Thailand's largest island. On the other hand, Bangkok plus Chiang Mai focuses heavily on misty mountains, ancient temples, and cultural heritage, which is wonderful but lacks the iconic beach holiday vibe. Additionally, Phuket offers easier, more frequent flight connections and Thailand packages from Bangalore, making the logistics smoother for a first visit.

Is Thailand expensive for Bangalore travellers?

No, Thailand is generally very affordable and budget-friendly for travellers from Bangalore, offering excellent value for money compared to domestic destinations like Goa or the Andaman Islands. The Indian Rupee holds a favourable conversion rate against the Thai Baht, allowing you to find decent budget hotels from ₹1,500 per night and delicious street food meals for under ₹150. Direct flights from Bangalore are highly competitive, often starting around ₹16,000 to ₹22,000 round-trip if booked in advance. While luxury resorts, premium shopping malls, and elite beach clubs in Phuket can drive up costs, a standard mid-range holiday remains highly accessible for average Indian travellers.

Can Indian ATM cards work in Thailand?

Yes, Indian ATM cards work seamlessly in Thailand, provided they are on the Visa or Mastercard networks and you have explicitly enabled international usage through your bank's app. However, using them comes with steep charges, as almost every local Thai ATM levies a flat operator fee of 220 THB (approximately ₹632) per transaction regardless of the amount you withdraw. On top of this, standard Indian banks like SBI or HDFC will charge a flat foreign withdrawal fee (around ₹100–₹125) plus a 3% to 3.5% currency conversion markup. To minimise these heavy transaction costs, it is best to make fewer, larger withdrawals or look into zero-forex debit cards before leaving India.

Is Phuket better than Pattaya?

Yes, Phuket is generally better than Pattaya, as it offers superior beaches, cleaner waters, and a much wider variety of family-friendly activities. Phuket serves as a world-class island destination famous for its spectacular scenery, upscale resorts, and island-hopping tours to spots like Phi Phi and James Bond islands. In contrast, Pattaya is a bustling coastal city closer to Bangkok that is heavily centred around intense adult nightlife and crowded, less pristine beaches. While Pattaya is cheaper to reach and more affordable for budget-conscious travellers, Phuket delivers a far more premium, scenic, and authentic tropical holiday experience.

Is Chiang Mai worth adding to a Thailand itinerary?

Yes, Chiang Mai is highly worth adding if your itinerary allows for at least 3 days and you want to experience Thailand's rich cultural, historical, and mountainous side. Located in the north, it provides a refreshing contrast to the coastal beach spots by offering misty highlands, ethical elephant sanctuaries, and vibrant night bazaars filled with local crafts. The city's ancient walled Old Town is home to over 300 ornate Buddhist temples, making it a paradise for history buffs, food lovers, and slow-paced travellers. However, if your trip is under a week and you prefer a strict beach-and-shopping holiday, it is best omitted to avoid unnecessary internal travel.

What currency is used in Thailand?

The official currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht, universally denoted by the currency symbol ฿ and the international code THB. Banknotes are widely issued in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 baht, with each note featuring images of the Thai Monarch. The baht is divided into smaller units called 'satang', though coins below 1 Baht are rarely used in daily tourist transactions. Since cash remains highly popular for street food markets, local transport, and small shops, carrying physical baht notes is vital. One Thai baht historically fluctuates and averages between ₹2.3 to ₹2.6 Indian rupees, making it easy for Bangalore travellers to calculate expenses.
