Belur Tourism

Belur is one of the oldest and famous tourist attractions of Karnataka. It is situated near the River Yagachi and comes under the Hassan District. Formerly the capital city of the Hoysala Empire, Belur also has the Halebid twin town, which is just 16km away from the place. It is located on the Bangalore to Chikmangalur route at 217km from Bangalore. 

Belur is a famous temple town and houses the most beautiful Hoysala Temples such as the Chennakesava temple, that was nominated for UNESCO World Heritage sites. Belur exemplifies the beauty and craftsmanship of South Indian architecture and design. The beauty of this town lies in its many structural wonders that can keep you mesmerized and enthralled for days on end. 

Many people travel from all corners of the world to explore the attractions of Belur. The Chennakesava temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and there are some stories around that it took 103 years to build this temple and complete the construction. Apart from this temple, you can also visit Madanikas, Veeranarayana Temple, Darpana Sundari, Kappe Chennigaraya Temple, and the Gravity pillar. 

Some of the best things to do here are visit ancient sites, beautiful temples and museums. You can also indulge in some adrenaline pumping activities such as water sports and outdoor activities. Some of these activities include a bumper ride, banana boat, speed boat, jetski in the Yagachi river along with different water activities, trekking, hiking, camping, rock climbing and so much more. 

October to March is the best time to visit Belur. The weather during this time is pleasant with temperatures hovering around 16°C. Summers get a little hot and temperature ranges between 33°C to 38°C.
