The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya is a monumental Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ram, believed to be situated at his birthplace. Inaugurated on January 22, 2024, the temple is constructed in the traditional Nagara style of Hindu architecture, as per the guidelines of the Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra.
Designed by the renowned architect Chandrakant Sompura and his sons, the temple spans 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and reaches a height of 161 feet. It features three shikharas, with the central one towering at 128 feet. The structure is supported by 392 intricately carved pillars and 44 doors, adorned with sculptures depicting various Hindu deities and episodes from the Ramayana.
Notably, the temple's construction utilised no iron or steel, relying instead on granite, sandstone, and marble to ensure durability and longevity. The foundation comprises a 14-meter-thick roller-compacted concrete layer, designed to withstand seismic activity.
The temple complex encompasses various mandaps, including the Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prarthana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap, each serving distinct spiritual purposes.
