HOLY MONASTERY OF ST NICHOLAS ANAPAFSAS

The Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas Anapafsas is one of the famous monasteries perched atop the rock formations of Meteora in central Greece. Meteora is renowned for its unique landscape characterized by towering cliffs and monolithic pillars upon which ancient monasteries were built.

St. Nicholas Anapafsas Monastery is located near the town of Kalambaka and is one of the smaller monasteries in the Meteora complex. "Anapafsas" in Greek means "refreshing," which could be interpreted as a place of spiritual rejuvenation. The monastery was founded in the 14th century, although like many of the monasteries in Meteora, its exact founding date is not precisely known.
