Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek, Tiger’s Nest excursion

  • Providing an excellent view of the Bhutanese Himalayan Range Dagala Thousand Lakes trek (4520m) is a journey through pristine beauty that remains adorned with natural green landscape and high altitude shimmering mountain lakes. In this journey, it is not only the crystal clear lakes that catches the eye but one can also enjoy the breathtaking views of the highest mountains, Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Masang Gang, Jichu Drake, Gangche Ta and many more.

    Though this is strenuous trek but prior experience on the Alpine is not mandatory. Apart from travelling through picturesque lakes and devour natural beauty at its best, one also gets the chance to travel through various traditional Bhutaneese villages which gives a good idea about their lifestyle here.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery

The majestic Tiger’s Nest Monastery also recognized as the Taktsang Monastery hangs on a cliff. It stands above a captivating forest of rhododendrons and blue pines.

Highlights: This exceptionally beautifully monastery is a climb up the hill to 900 meters. You can hire a pony to help you with the ride up. However, the pony will only take you up till the cafeteria. Post that you are on your own. There you’ll have to undertake a steep walk. The steps leading you to towards the monastery tend to narrow down as you move forward. The trail also passes through the chapel of butter lamps and further descends by the Snow Lion Cave. From here on, the view of the Paro Valley is breath taking and the atmosphere is holy. Every Bhutanese would at least once wish to come and visit the place once.

Location: Tiger’s Nest Monastery is located on Taktsang trail in Bhutan.

Timings: 8 AM to 1 PM and then 2 PM to 5 PM everyday.
