About Solan
Located between Chandigarh and Shimla, the town of Solan is named after the Hindu Goddess Shoolini Devi. Owing to its production of raw materials, Solan has received a number of nicknames over the years, such as the City of Red Gold for its production of tomatoes.

 Set against the backdrop of the white hills, this little town studded with pine and deodar forests boasts of a stunning natural beauty. The town also prides in its architectural resplendence, with a number of cultural and heritage monuments lining the place.

The natural life of Solan can be best experienced with a trip to the Mohan National Heritage Park. Boasting of vast, landscaped gardens with a number of sculptures of gods and goddess, this Park was especially developed with the purpose of educating the younger generation about the rich Vedic culture.

The traditional architecture of Solan is manifested in the numerous temples housed here, such as the Shoolini Devi Temple. The architectural resplendence of the place can also be witnessed in the craftsmanship of the renowned Arki Fort, or the Mughal-inspired Nalagarh Palace. Solan also houses the Mohan Meakin Brewery, which is one the oldest breweries in India. The rich architectural heritage of Solan makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh.

Trekking and camping are some of the most popular activities in Solan, with destinations such as Barog or Chaili offering the perfect spot for the same. The town is also famous for two of the most popular fairs of the state- the three-day Shoolini Fair, and the Sair Festival held in the Arki Fort, which is known for its conduction of bullfights.

Owing to its moderate and hospital climate, Solan is one of the most popular places to visit in Himachal Pradesh. The temperature remains high throughout the summer months, with frequent rainfall. The winter here is relatively pleasant and cool, with the temperature rarely falling below 5 degrees Celsius.
