About Shimba Hills National Reserve

Shimba Hills National Reserve, located near Kenya's coastal city of Mombasa, offers a unique blend of coastal forest, savannah, and rolling hills. Spanning around 192 square kilometers, the reserve is renowned for its rich biodiversity and is home to Kenya's only population of sable antelope, known for their striking, curved horns and graceful presence. In addition to sable antelope, Shimba Hills hosts a variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and leopards, as well as over 230 bird species.

One of the highlights of the reserve is the Sheldrick Falls, where visitors can take a scenic trek to the falls, enjoy a refreshing dip, and admire the lush surrounding vegetation. With its cool climate, panoramic viewpoints, and rich flora—including rare cycads and orchids—Shimba Hills offers a refreshing escape from the coastal heat. It’s an ideal destination for those seeking tranquil landscapes and an immersive wildlife experience.
