Loggia del Consiglio Overview

The Loggia del Consiglio (or Loggia di Fra Giocondo) is one of the most stunning examples of fifteenth-century Veronese Renaissance architecture. It is a wonderful palace in Piazza dei Signori that is incredibly rich in pictorial decorations and base relief sculptures. You must visit this architectural wonder to admire the magnificent frescoes, arched windows, and stunning facade

Located in Piazza dei Signori, Loggia del Consiglio attracts attention for its stunning Renaissance architecture. It is a 15th-century palace that served as the meeting site for the city council earlier but now is the seat of the Provincial Administration.

The building is neoclassical in design and features a porch that faces the Piazza. Its lower marble floor is a loggia with eight graceful arches and the first floor is embellished with Emperor’s profiles and medallions on a golden background. The first floor has pairs of smaller windows with a central column and arch above each window and a larger ornamental arch surmounting each pair. The palace's roof is another draw for having statues of five notable Italians born in Verona.

The Loggia's interior is decorated with marble columns, opulent murals, and lovely motifs. Although the building is not accessible to the public, you must stop by to view the gorgeous front and marvel at the sculptures and decorations.
