About Caerphilly Castle

Caerphilly castle is undoubtedly one of the mightiest fortresses and grandest Medieval buildings in Wales. There are many things to see in Cardiff Caerphilly castle. The formidable castle is bounded by two huge lakes located in the center of the town. The castle is an early example of Concentric castle design. At various places, you can see Pennant sandstone walls which are more than a foot thick.

You can climb the castle to enjoy the beautiful view of the Welsh hills that encircle the patch of flat lands and offer a neat view of anglers fishing in the vast moats. The elements used to make the castle were borrowed from another fortress and were inspired by the infamous siege of Kenilworth castle. The exact structure also inspires the East Gatehouse of the castle in Tonbridge castle. You can check out the great hall, restored parapets, and siege engines, which will let you have a glimpse of the Castle’s fierce history of attacks.
