Sikkim Holiday Packages from Ahmedabad

Rated 4.7/5 by verified travellers, Sikkim tour packages from Ahmedabad by Thrillophilia start from around INR 9,250 per person for 5 to 6 days, covering commonly planned routes like Gangtok with East or North Sikkim. This trip works best when you look at it as a flight-plus-road mountain journey rather than a short break. For most travellers starting from Ahmedabad, Bagdogra is the main and most reliable entry point, followed by a road transfer that takes a good part of the day.

What many first-time travellers miss is that Sikkim cannot be covered by simply adding Gangtok, Nathula, North Sikkim, Pelling, and Darjeeling into one plan. Each of these regions comes with its own travel time, permits, and road conditions, which directly affect how comfortable or tiring your trip feels. Because of this, itineraries here are less about covering everything and more about choosing the right combination of places based on the number of days you actually have.

From our experience handling a high volume of Sikkim bookings from Ahmedabad, we have found that 6-day itineraries focusing on Gangtok with one additional region are consistently rated higher. These trips feel more manageable and leave enough time for travel delays without compromising on key experiences. We keep this in mind while designing our Sikkim itineraries, where the route, transfer time, and permit planning are already coordinated.

In our Ahmedabad to Sikkim tour packages, you will find well-located stays in Gangtok and transfers from Bagdogra/NJP. You can also find the required permits for places like Nathula or North Sikkim, and day-wise travel that does not feel exhausting. This way, you can cover the region in a practical and comfortable way from start to finish.

Package Cost, Duration, and Overview

  • Price Range: INR 9,250 to INR 29,217 per person for 5 to 6 days, depending on hotels, route, and travel season.
  • Duration: 5 to 7-day trips, with longer options if you want to include North or West Sikkim.
  • Popular Plan: 6-day Gangtok-focused trip with one additional region like Lachung is the most booked option.
  • Inclusions: Hotels, transfers from Bagdogra/NJP, local sightseeing, permits where required, and daily breakfast.
  • Thrillophilia Exclusive: Proper route planning, permit handling, and on-ground coordination.

Sikkim Trip Cost From Ahmedabad - Realistic Budget Breakdown

1. Package Name: Gangtok Tour Package from NJP

  • Duration: 5 Days, 4 Nights
  • Route and Coverage: NJP / Bagdogra – Gangtok – Tsomgo Lake – Baba Mandir – (optional Nathula Pass) – Gangtok – NJP / Bagdogra
  • Price without flights: INR 9,205 to INR 18,399
  • Price including flights: INR 22,000 onwards
  • Best for: Budget to mid-range travellers, first-time Sikkim visitors, short scenic hill trips
  • What it feels like: This is a straightforward Gangtok trip that starts from NJP or Bagdogra and focuses on the capital city and nearby high-altitude spots. You travel along the Teesta River, explore viewpoints like Tashi Viewpoint, visit monasteries, waterfalls, and local centers, and take a day trip to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir.

2. Package Name: The Ultimate Sikkim Tour

  • Duration: 6 Days, 5 Nights
  • Route and Coverage: NJP / Bagdogra – Sillery Gaon – Aritar – Zuluk – Nathang Valley – Reshikhola – Siliguri
  • Price without flights: INR 19,397 to INR 21,000
  • Price including flights: INR 28,000 onwards
  • Best for: Offbeat travellers, nature lovers, slow travel seekers, people who want less crowded Sikkim
  • What it feels like: This is a more offbeat East Sikkim journey that takes you beyond typical Gangtok routes. You stay in quiet villages like Sillery Gaon and Reshikhola. Explore peaceful spots like Lampokhari Lake and Aritar Monastery. During the final leg, move towards high-altitude places like Zuluk and Nathang Valley.

3. Package Name: Fully Loaded Sikkim | FREE Skywalk Experience

  • Duration: 9 to 10 Days
  • Route and Coverage: Gangtok – Lachen – Lachung – Pelling – Darjeeling
  • Price without flights: INR 40,000 to INR 51,564
  • Price including flights: INR 70,000 onwards
  • Best for: Explorers, honeymooners, long vacations
  • What it feels like: You get to do a full Himalayan circuit with both Lachen (Gurudongmar side) and Lachung (Yumthang), including Pelling and Darjeeling. This is longer, involves more road travel, and is permit-sensitive. Also, it is the most rewarding in terms of landscapes.

4. Permit-Heavy Sectors

  • Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir: easy permits, handled a day before
  • Nathula Pass: limited slots, not guaranteed
  • North Sikkim (Lachen/Lachung/Gurudongmar): strict permits, fixed vehicle routing
  • These areas increase cost due to logistics and not just entry.

Thrillophilia’s Traveller Note

Chintan Rajgor from  Ahmedabad booked the Goechala Trek, Sikkim package in May, 2024. He says, “The team Thrillophilia were excellent and helped us promptly in critical situations. The trek was tough but excellent with beautiful flora and fauna. The guides were very good, supportive and helpful, gave us good service. Thrillophilia helped us in some critical situations and we have reached here safe at our home. The trek was excellent, and would like to do more trips in feature too.

What These Sikkim Trips From Ahmedabad Are Best For

1. Couples

Gangtok with Pelling works really well here. Travel stays manageable, and you actually get time to slow down instead of constantly being on the move. A North Sikkim plan can work too, but only when you have enough nights to handle the long drives without rushing.

2. Families

Gangtok on its own, or with Pelling, keeps road time reasonable and avoids very high altitudes. This makes the trip easier for kids and older travellers.

3. First-Time Himalayan Travellers

Starting with Gangtok and adding Pelling is the smarter way to go. It helps you get used to hill travel before considering tougher routes like North Sikkim.

4. Adventure and Landscape Travellers

Lachung and Yumthang are great picks if you’re okay with long road hours. Lachen can be added, but only if you’re prepared for early starts and rough stretches.

5. Snow Seekers

Winter travel around Tsomgo Lake and Nathula gives a fair chance of snow. North Sikkim can also get snow, but access is not always guaranteed due to weather.

6. Short-Leave Travellers

Gangtok with Tsomgo and Nathula is the most practical option. Trying to add Gurudongmar or deeper North Sikkim in a short trip usually makes it too rushed.

If your Sikkim trip from Ahmedabad is under five nights, keep it built around Gangtok and one strong extension.

Thrillophilia’s Traveller Note

Kinjal Dave from Jaipur booked the Sikkim Delights | A Gateway To Paradise package in February, 2026. He says, “For our getaway from Ahmedabad, we wanted a peaceful trip close to nature, and it couldn’t have been better. The boat ride in Dawki was the highlight, especially for the kids who had an amazing time. The transport was comfortable and well-arranged throughout the journey. Thanks to Thrillophilia for such a smooth and memorable family trip-highly recommended!

Which Sikkim Route Works Best From Ahmedabad

  • When coming from Ahmedabad, keep Gangtok as your base and build the journey around it.
  • A simple Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, and Nathula Pass route is ideal for shorter trips and helps you acclimate to the altitude first.
  • If you have a few more days, Gangtok and Pelling is a great combination with balanced travel time and easier roads.
  • For those wanting North Sikkim, Gangtok and Lachung or Yumthang is the most practical option.
  • Adding Lachen and Lachung together only makes sense if you have enough time and can handle long, rough road journeys.
  • A 7 to 8 day flow usually starts in East Sikkim, then moves to North Sikkim, and ends in Pelling.
  • Darjeeling can be added at the end, but it should stay optional and not forced into every plan.

Best Time to Visit Sikkim From Ahmedabad

1. March to Mid-December:

If you are planning from Ahmedabad, this is honestly the safest window. March to May is comfortable for travel and works well for Gangtok, Pelling, and even Yumthang if you’re going north. October to mid-December is even better for clear mountain views and smoother road conditions, especially for Lachung or Lachen. April, May, October, and November usually feel the most balanced in terms of weather and travel ease.

2. Late December to February:

You’ll likely see snow around Tsomgo and Nathula, and sometimes in North Sikkim too. But road closures do happen, so plans shouldn’t be too tight.

3. June to September :

Heavy rain can slow everything down. Landslides and delays are common, so the trip can become unpredictable.

Flights and Gateway Access From Ahmedabad - What Travellers Should Know

1. Direct Flights Make It Easier

  • You can get direct flights from Ahmedabad to Bagdogra in about 3 hours via an Akasa Air flight.
  • This is the most practical and commonly used option.

2. Bagdogra is Your Main Entry Point

  • Most travellers land at Bagdogra and start the journey from there.
  • Planning around any other airport usually complicates things.

3. The Road Journey is Part of the Trip

  • From Bagdogra to Gangtok, it takes about 4 to 5 hours via NH-10 by road.
  • This stretch is always there, so your flight timing should match it.

4. Trains Exist, But Not Ideal

  • Trains like Kamakhya Express to NJP take over 40 hours from Ahmedabad.
  • They are cheaper, but not practical for shorter trips.

5. Think of Flight + Road, Not Just Flight

  • The trip doesn’t end at landing.
  • A well-timed flight helps you start the road journey early and avoid delays.

Permits for Tsomgo, Nathula and North Sikkim

1. What actually needs permits

Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula Pass, and all North Sikkim areas like Lachen, Lachung, Yumthang, and Gurudongmar require permits. These are restricted zones near the border, so entry is controlled.

2. Why you need an agent

You cannot apply on your own. A registered Sikkim travel agent has to submit your details and get approvals from tourism and police authorities.

3. Documents that work

Carry Passport or Voter ID with photos. Aadhaar is not accepted for Nathula and Gurudongmar, so don’t depend on it.

4. Why last-minute plans fail

Permits are usually done a day in advance, and there are limited slots. Same-day requests mostly do not work.

5. Why it is not guaranteed

Weather, snow, or security issues can close routes anytime, even after permits are issued.

Top Experiences Worth Prioritising in a Sikkim Trip

1. Visit Tsomgo Lake at 12,310 feet:

The lake stays frozen from December to February and thaws by April. It sits 40 km from Gangtok on the Nathula Highway and takes about 1.5 hours to reach by road.

2. Drive to Nathula Pass at 14,140 feet:

This is one of the open trading points on the India-China border. The pass is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and permits are issued only to Indian nationals. Book your permit at least a day in advance.

3. Spend a Morning at Yumthang Valley at 11,800 feet:

Between March and late April, the valley floor fills with primula and rhododendron in bloom across roughly 20 sq km. The drive from Lachung takes about 1.5 hours on a single-lane mountain road.

4. See the Kanchenjunga Views From Pelling:

On a clear morning, the third highest peak in the world at 28,169 feet sits directly in your line of sight from Pelling. The Skywalk at Pelling, opened in 2019, extends over a gorge at 7,200 feet and faces the peak directly.

5. Visit Rumtek Monastery, 24 km From Gangtok:

Built in the 1960s by the 16th Karmapa, Rumtek is one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim and holds the Black Hat, a ceremonial crown central to Kagyu Buddhist tradition. The drive from Gangtok takes about 45 minutes on a winding road.

Common Planning Mistakes Ahmedabad Travellers Make

1. Treating Ahmedabad as multiple equal routes

Many travellers assume they have many similar flight options. But, right now the main reliable air route is the direct Ahmedabad to Bagdogra flight, which takes about 3 hours and is operated by Akasa Air. Most plans should be built around Bagdogra, not Pakyong.

2. Underestimating the full travel day

Landing at Bagdogra is only part one. You still have to cover around 121 kilometres, which takes around 5 hours via NH-10. So even with a direct flight, the full journey can feel long and tiring if not planned properly.

3. Trying to cover everything in one week

Gangtok, Nathula, North Sikkim, Pelling, and Darjeeling in 6 to 7 days sounds exciting but does not work well. Roads are slow, distances are long, and the trip becomes rushed instead of enjoyable.

4. Choosing North Sikkim without preparation

Places like Lachen, Yumthang, and Gurudongmar involve high altitude, longer drives, and stricter permits. North Sikkim needs proper planning and extra days.

5. Assuming permit rules stay fixed

Permit rules can change, and not all documents are accepted. For example, Aadhaar is not accepted for Nathula and Gurudongmar permits.

6. Picking monsoon dates without understanding transfer risk

June to September can bring landslides and delays, especially on the Bagdogra to Gangtok route. This can affect transfers and overall trip flow if you do not plan well.

Why Travellers Trust Thrillophilia for Sikkim Packages From Ahmedabad

We have planned many Sikkim trips for travellers from Ahmedabad, keeping things simple and realistic. Our teams build the trip around the Bagdogra route, the main route to Sikkim. We clearly explain how the journey actually works, including the road travel after landing.

Help with permits for places like Tsomgo, Nathula, and North Sikkim. We tell you in advance which documents are accepted and how the process works, so you do not run into issues later.

One traveller from Ahmedabad who did the Goechala Trek said the trek was tough but beautiful. They shared that our team supported them in critical situations and helped them return home safely. During the trip, support is always made available to you, especially in remote areas.

Travel Updates and Safety Information for Sikkim Trips

  • North Sikkim is a bit sensitive, where the Lachen route is currently closed due to a road collapse near Taramchu Bridge. However, you can still explore Lachung and Yumthang Valley.
  • In East Sikkim, routes to Nathula Pass and Tsomgo Lake can be subject to sudden restrictions, especially following recent advisories and snowfall.
  • There were strict travel advisories around 27 to 28 April due to a PM visit, so always double-check routes before heading out.
  • Permits are very important, especially for Zero Point, which needs a separate PAP. Get everything arranged in advance.
  • As of late April 2026, Sikkim has pleasant spring weather, but travel isn’t completely smooth right now. Expect some rain or even thunderstorms in between clear days.

Sikkim Tours From ahmedabad FAQs

Is Sikkim practical from Ahmedabad?

Yes, Sikkim is practical from Ahmedabad, but there is no direct connectivity. So you need to plan it as a flight-plus-road trip where you fly to Bagdogra and then travel 4 to 5 hours via NH-10 to Gangtok. You will need permits for Nathula and North Sikkim, so a 5 to 7-day trip works best.

Which gateway and route should I choose?

If you are flying, the best gateway is Bagdogra Airport (IXB), or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) if you prefer trains. There is no direct way to reach Sikkim, so this second leg by road is always part of the trip from Ahmedabad to Gangtok. You first reach Siliguri and then continue to Gangtok via NH10, covering about 120 to 125 km in 4-5 hours, depending on traffic and weather.

Do I need permits for the route I want?

If your plan is just Gangtok, you do not need a permit as an Indian traveller. However, the moment you add places like Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, or Nathula Pass, you will need a permit. For North Sikkim (Lachen, Lachung, Gurudongmar), permits are compulsory and strictly checked. These are issued as Protected Area Permits (PAPs), and you can obtain them through registered local travel agents.

How many nights do I need for North Sikkim versus a simpler circuit?

When you intend to explore North Sikkim’s Lachen, Lachung, Gurudongmar, and Yumthang, you should keep at least 3 to 5 nights. A 4-night plan is more comfortable, especially since you are going above 14,000 to 17,000 feet, where your body needs to acclimatize. But for a simpler circuit that includes Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, and Baba Mandir, 2 to 3 nights are enough. This is a lower altitude and much easier to manage, especially if you are short on time.

What will the trip realistically cost from Ahmedabad?

Sikkim tour packages from Ahmedabad, excluding the flights, realistically cost between INR 9,250 and INR 29,217 per person for a 4- to 6-day journey. These packages include guided sightseeing to places like Dro-Dul Chorten Monastery, stays in Gangtok, transfers, and meals.

What is the best time to visit Sikkim from Ahmedabad?

March to May is the strongest window. Roads to North Sikkim are open, rhododendrons are in bloom, and Gangtok temperatures sit between 10°C and 22°C. October to December works well too, with clear skies and good Kanchenjunga visibility. Avoid June to September for North Sikkim, as heavy rainfall causes frequent landslides on the Lachung and Lachen routes.

Can I visit Gurudongmar Lake from Gangtok?

Yes, but it requires a night stay in Lachen first. Gurudongmar sits at 17,800 feet and the drive from Lachen takes 2.5 to 3 hours on rough mountain roads. A Protected Area Permit is required and arranged through your registered Sikkim travel agent. The lake stays closed during heavy snowfall, typically January to March.

Is Sikkim safe for first-time mountain travellers from Ahmedabad?

Gangtok at 5,500 feet is manageable for most first-timers. North Sikkim is a different matter. Gurudongmar at 17,800 feet and Tsomgo at 12,310 feet require genuine altitude awareness. Keep Day 1 in Gangtok light, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol on arrival.

Can I combine Darjeeling with a Sikkim trip from Ahmedabad?

Yes, but only if your trip is 8 days or longer. Add Darjeeling at the end of your Sikkim circuit before flying back from Bagdogra. Forcing it into a 5 to 6 day plan means rushing both. If time is short, keep Sikkim as the priority.

What documents do I need to carry for a Sikkim trip?

Carry a valid government-issued photo ID, Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport. For Nathula Pass, only Indian nationals are permitted. For North Sikkim permits, carry two passport-size photographs along with your ID. Your registered travel agent in Gangtok handles the paperwork, but physical copies of your ID speed up the process.
