A Sikkim 5 days trip cost starts at INR 15,000 per person and goes up to INR 23,000 based on the destinations included in your itinerary and the experiences you wish to opt for, as indicated by Thrillophilia’s Sikkim tour package pricing. Sikkim tourism combines snow-covered Mount Kanchenjunga views, Buddhist monasteries, high-altitude lakes and scenic mountain towns within established and convenient routes. Sikkim's main tourist circuit can be covered with fewer hotel changes than a typical Ladakh itinerary, making it easier to plan enjoyable trips over shorter durations, like with a Sikkim itinerary for 5 days.
Gangtok is where most Sikkim tour packages start, featuring scenic cable car rides, sacred monasteries, and lively pedestrian shopping hubs. With 5 days in Sikkim, you can comfortably experience a comprehensive coverage of Sikkim’s highlights, including Gangtok, Pelling, and Ravangla. You can also choose to focus on North Sikkim for this duration, with dramatic views of the Himalayas and high-altitude attractions like Gurudongmar Lake and Yumthang Valley in Lachen and Lachung. Many travellers also opt for a trip to Darjeeling while in Sikkim due to its easy connectivity and similar experiences.
This Sikkim trip plan for 5 days guide will take you through every major planning component necessary for you to plan for a Sikkim trip that feels both comprehensive and comfortable despite the short duration.
Thrillophilia’s Sikkim tour packages for 5 days are structured to make the most of a limited trip duration by planning stays, transfers and sightseeing as one connected itinerary. Since mountain road journeys can take up a significant part of the trip, having the route planned in advance helps travellers spend their five days experiencing destinations like Gangtok and Pelling and nearby attractions instead of coordinating every transfer and hotel separately.

Here is what a typical 5-day Sikkim tour package by Thrillophilia includes
Travellers can customise their base package to include upgrades, more meals and additional experiences. Travellers booking family packages to Sikkim often choose to customise their package for a slower pace, upgraded rooms, and additional activities to account for the comfort and engagement of both children and elders.
For a 5-day Sikkim trip, choosing the right arrival point is important because transfers from the airport or railway station can take up a significant part of your limited itinerary. Bagdogra Airport and New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) are the main gateways for reaching Gangtok and other parts of Sikkim, after which you will need to continue by road.
New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) is the most convenient railhead for travellers planning a Sikkim trip. It is well connected to major Indian cities, making it a practical option for travellers who prefer train journeys or are planning a budget trip to Sikkim.
From NJP, you can take a private or shared cab to Gangtok, which typically takes around 4–6 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. For a 5-day itinerary, it is best to account for this transfer time before planning sightseeing on the day of arrival.
Your departure city significantly affects your transport mode and transfer cost to Sikkim. For example, a Sikkim trip from Kolkata would be marginally more economical compared to a Sikkim trip from Chennai, since Kolkata is closer to Sikkim, resulting in lower flight and train pricing.
For travellers looking to maximise their time in Sikkim, direct flights to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) are generally the more convenient option. You can choose connecting flights available from all major Indian cities with a longer duration compared to direct flights. After arriving at Bagdogra, you can continue to Gangtok by shared or private cab with a duration of 4-6 hours.
Direct Flights Overview
Operating Airlines: IndiGo, Air India Express, Air India, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet
Travellers can also consider flights to Pakyong Airport, depending on their departure city and flight availability. However, for most travellers planning a 5-day Sikkim trip, Bagdogra remains a more widely connected gateway.
For Indian tourists, a Protected Area Permit (PAP) is required for restricted destinations such as Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, Yumthang, Yumesamdong and Gurudongmar. The permit process is generally handled through a registered Sikkim tourism travel agency, with some permits issued at designated police checkpoints.
For North Sikkim, permits must currently be issued at least one day in advance; same-day permits are not issued.
For Indians, commonly required documents include: Voter ID or driving licence and two passport-size photographs for destinations such as Nathula and Gurudongmar. Aadhaar is not accepted for these permits, according to the current Sikkim Tourism requirements.
Thrillophilia’s Sikkim tour packages include comprehensive PAP assistance, along with documentation guidance ahead of time to avoid any last-minute holdups.
Sikkim offers distinct trip experiences across multiple seasons. Here’s a guide explaining what to expect from each seasonal window of Sikkim:
Spring and autumn are the peak-booking windows for luxury Sikkim trips, as indicated by Thrillophilia’s internal booking data. But due to high traveller demand, trips during this time tend to be more expensive due to inflated pricing on flights and hotels. Shoulder seasons like monsoon and winters offer comparatively more economical pricing. However, you should plan ahead for delays due to heavy rainfall or route closure in high-altitude destinations.
Here are the best places to visit in Sikkim:
As Thrillophilia's Sikkim operations team suggests, for a 5-day trip, Gangtok-Namchi-Pelling works best for a shorter itinerary, while Gangtok-Lachung/Yumthang Valley is better for travellers who want to prioritise North Sikkim's landscapes.
