Bo Kaap Overview
Popularly known as Malay Quarter, Bo-Kaap invites you to catch a real glimpse of freedom. Visitors come here to get acquainted with the local culture of Cape Malays- the slaves brought from South Asian nations. The streets of this vibrant neighbourhood look bright with creative paintings and bright colours everywhere.

It is said that while on the lease, all these houses were plain white. However, as the rule was lifted, inhabitants celebrated their freedom by painting their houses with bright and happy colours. As you usher into this colourful site located nearby Signal Hill, you are greeted by a row of houses that display a blend of Georgian and Cape Dutch architecture.

If you want to delve deeper into the authentic history of this region, visit Bo-Kaap Museum- the oldest building sitting on Wale Street. With so many things to do and see, Bo-Kaap is one of the most sought-after places to visit in Cape Town.
