From the bustling streets of Indore to the high-altitude deserts of Spiti, this journey is truly extraordinary! Spiti is often visited for its towering mountains, ancient monasteries, and winding roads that lead to some of India’s most popular attractions. Every turn reveals a new wonder, from the crystal-clear Chandratal Lake to the historic Key Monastery located on a cliff.
Reaching Spiti from Indore is an adventure in itself. The journey starts with a flight/train to Delhi or Chandigarh. From here, you need to continue the journey by road, either via Shimla or Manali. 1. The Shimla route (accessible year-round) is longer but allows gradual acclimatization. 2. The Manali route (accessible from June-October), is shorter but more challenging.
Unlike Indore’s humid weather, Spiti welcomes travellers with cool winds, rugged terrains, and breathtaking star-lit skies. The experience is thrilling, whether you're exploring Hikkim (the world’s highest post office), trekking to Dhankar Lake, or soaking in the peace of Langza’s giant Buddha statue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spiti Tour From Indore
1. What permits are required for Spiti Valley from Indore? Indian citizens do not need permits to visit Spiti Valley. However, foreign nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for travelling to areas near the Indo-Tibetan border, like Kaza and beyond. You can get the permits from the District Magistrate's office in Shimla, Reckong Peo, or Manali. If travelling via Rohtang Pass, a Rohtang Permit is necessary. Necessary documents to make these permits include: a. For ILP (for foreign nationals): A valid passport with an Indian visa, passport-sized photos, a permit application form, a travel itinerary, and photocopies of the passport and visa. b. Rohtang Pass Permit: A valid ID proof, vehicle RC, PUC certificate (for private vehicles), and a driving license (if self-driving).
2. Which is the best month to visit Spiti Valley? The best time to visit Spiti Valley is June to September, when the roads from both Manali and Shimla are open, and the weather is pleasant. Winter (November-March) is extremely cold with heavy snowfall. For snow lovers, this time can be ideal, but accessibility is limited due to snow-covered roads. March-May is another option, where you get a snow-covered landscape while the roads start to reopen.
3. Do we need oxygen in Spiti? Spiti Valley is at a high altitude (above 11,500 feet), where oxygen levels are lower and acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness. Most travelers do not need supplemental oxygen. However, those prone to breathing issues or visiting high passes like Kunzum and Chandratal (above 15,000 feet) may consider carrying portable oxygen cylinders as a precaution.

We started our journey from Delhi to Shimla on bus and then our guide (Mr. Parikshit Kanwar) recieved us from the drop point and we started our journey for Spiti Valley on our Traveller. Our route was Delhi-Shimla-Chitkul-Nako-Tabo-Kaza-Chadrataal-Sissu-Manali-Delhi..... All the stays were very good except for the stay at Kaza (Piti Jalsa Heritage). Our Spiti road trip from Indore was filled with breathtaking views. Thrillophilia’s coordinator, Paresh, was always available for any help we needed. The Key Monastery is a must-visit for its history and architecture. A very well-executed trip with great memories. The stark contrast between the blue sky and the barren brown mountains of the valley is just stunning.
Visiting the Key Monastery was a spiritual highlight for me. Thrillophilia arranged the entire trip very well. The drive to Hikkim and Komic was adventurous and fun. Spiti is a place where you can truly find yourself amidst the vastness of the mountains. The coordination was seamless and the overall experience was just perfect for a mountain lover like me.
Sab kuch bahut badhiya tha. The journey from Indore to the remote corners of Spiti was seamless, thanks to Thrillophilia. We loved the camping at Chandratal—the lake is absolutely stunning. It was cold, but the experience was worth every bit of it. The bonfire and the group stories made the nights very special. Truly a great way to explore.
Coming from the heart of Indore, the dry mountains of Spiti were a revelation. Thrillophilia’s planning made the long drive from Manali very manageable. We loved the peaceful vibes of the Pin Valley. The local food in Kaza was surprisingly delicious and very authentic. It was a perfect break from our daily routine. Highly recommended for adventure seekers.
Huge thanks to our coordinator for making the Spiti trip so incredibly memorable. The camping at Chandratal was the highlight, even if it was bone-chilling cold at night. Thrillophilia really knows the best spots for photography and local interaction. I'd go back in a heartbeat to see those mountains again. It was a well-organized and very soulful journey for everyone.
Thrillophilia made our Spiti dream come true. Coming from Indore, we appreciated the well-paced itinerary that helped us acclimatize to the high altitude properly. The visit to Langza and the Buddha statue was the highlight of our journey. The sheer silence of the mountains is something everyone should experience. It was a deeply moving and spiritual journey.
Apart from the breathtaking views what we liked was neetima mam’s and Sanjay bhaiya’s (driver) enthusiasm in hosting us .They were very supportive throughout the trip and helped us enjoy the true worth of this trip .
