Overview

About the Activity:
Fixed Departure Date - 3rd September, 2016

  • Join an eight day long tour of Spiti Valley which is known as the "Middle Land", a Trans-Himalayan terrain.
  • Arrive in Manali early morning after an overnight journey from Delhi, spend the whole roaming around the old Manali markets and do some shopping.
  • Take a visit to different monasteries like Tabo monastery, Dhankar monastery, Sherkhang monastery and Kye monastery during your trip.
  • Meet Buchen Lamas in Pin Valley, famous for Tibetan medicine sytstem, see Amchis, fossils of Langza village, also highest motor-able villages and passes, scenic lakes etc.
  • Have leisure time near the landscapes, Chadrataal lake and the mountain peaks near to it, forget all the humdrum of your life.
  • Get your bus to reach Delhi or your preferable place on the last day in the afternoon and the trip ends there.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Explore Manali after arrival

    Reach Manali in the morning from Delhi after an overnight journey and check-in at a hotel.

    You can spend the day as you wish, visit Hidimba or Manu temple or Vashisht, enjoy a bath in hot spring.

    Explore Old Manali and indulge in some shopping.

    Listen to the briefing of the tours in the afternoon.

  • Day 2 -

    Head to Spiti Valley

    Travel to Spiti Valley that takes around 10 hours, early in the morning ascend the Rohtang Pass.

    Then travel to Gramphoo, have breakfast there, and you can see steep mountains, it is a barren landscape.

    Ride toward Chatru and see some of the biggest waterfalls en route, also big rocks all over, then huge streams join the Chandra river.

    Have a lunch break at Batal, aftermath enter Spiti valley, the jumpy road will end at Lohsar.

    From Lohsar, drive to Kaza after a small break, take another two hours to reach Kaza, check in at a hotel and enjoy the remaining time.

  • Day 3 -

    Visit Kibber, Key and back to Kaza

    Start the day after the breakfast, head out to spend the afternoon next to the river.

    After lunch, head to Kye monastery, the centre of learning in Spiti valley, get a complete view of the valley also.

    From there, head to Kibber village, which is the highest motor-able village in the world.

    See the high mountains around Khibber where you can spot the rarest Snow Leopard and Siberian Ibex.

    Head back to Kaza from there.

  • Day 4 -

    Heading to Tabo monastery

    After breakfast, head to Tabo Monastery in the morning Dhankar Monastery and Lake.

    Dhankar village is the seat of the Spitian King in the ancient times, claimed to be 1000 years old, is on the cliff of a mountain from where you can see Pin and Spiti river.

    Hike to Dhankar lake (source of water to Dhankar village) which is a steep walk of 45 minutes and the hike is optional, after spending some time at the lake and head back.

    Move towards Tabo monastery, also known as the “Ajantas of the Himalayas”, which is more than 1000 years old.

    Head back to Kaza from there and end the day.

  • Day 5 -

    To Langza

    Head out to Langza after breakfast, it is the 2nd highest motor-able village and is home to Fossil search in the country.

    You can hike from Langza to Komic via a small halt at Hikkim.

    Head to the last point for the day, Komic and enjoy the spectacular view of snow capped peaks, and also meet the monks in the monastery in Komic.

    Head back to Langza for a homestay with a local family.

  • Day 6 -

    Visit Chadrataal Lake

    After breakfast with the local family, head toward Chandrataal Lake, it is the location where you can take maximum photographs since the place is amazingly beautiful.

    Camp in dome tents comfortably.

  • Day 7 -

    Travel to Manali

    Leave early in the morning to Manali after breakfast, take a small break at Batal.

    Reach Rohtang pass by early afternoon and spend some time at the pass.

    Head to Manali and relax and stay there.

  • Day 8 -

    Trip ends in the afternoon

    Head back to take your bus to Delhii and the trip ends in the afternoon.
