About the Tour: 

After reaching Chandigarh, start your journey towards Narkanda and take a halt to see Famous Ridge, Mall Road and other sightseeing options in Shimla. Next day, leave from Narkanda to Kalpa and have lunch at Rampur. If the road to Kalpa will be closed, you will be taken to Reckong Peo where the roads remain open. You will then take a 150 km ride from Kalpa/Reckong Peo to Tabo. Reach Spiti Valley and stay in the hotel, take rest and in evening, visit ‘Ajanta of Himalayas- Tabo Monastery, Dhankar Monastery (if the roads are open) and continue your ride to Kaza. See Key Monastery and Kibber Village.

After exiting Spiti Valley, have lunch at Nako, arrive at Puh, explore the village and visit the local monastery. Enjoy the day at Sangla Valley, Visit Kamru Fort at Sangla which is a picturesque place, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. While enjoying a beautiful ride, reach Sarahan by the evening. Post breakfast, leave for your last stop of this beautiful ride, Shimla. On the way to Shimla, take lunch at Narkanda. This time instead of staying at Narkanda, stay in Shimla to make new memories. Leave early in the morning to catch the ride from Chandigarh.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Chandigarh to Kalka to Shimla to Narkanda (175 Km)

    Arrive Chandigarh and get picked up from the railway station by the driver and start your journey towards Narkanda via Shimla. You will make your way from Chandigarh to Kalka, from where you will board the toy train to get to Shimla.

    At Shimla, get onboard the vehicle that will take you to Narkanda.

    Take breaks on the way and enjoy the beauty as you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. On the way, visit Famous Ridge, Mall Road, Lakkar Bazaar, Jakhu Temple in Shimla.

    Lose yourself amidst scenic valleys on either side of the road. From here, you embark on a new adventurous journey.

    Overnight stay in Narkanda.

  • Day 2 - Narkanda to Kalpa (163 Km)

    Leave early from Narkanda and enjoy the vistas en route. You can have your lunch at Rampur. About 8 – 9 hours of beautiful drive through Kinnaur Valley.

    Road to Kalpa might be closed due to snow if such situation arrives you will be taken to Reckong Peo where the road remains open and it is just 3 kms from Kalpa.

    This will be your last place where you can get some cell reception, so you may call up your people if you wish to and inform them about your whereabouts.

    Once, you get past Reckong Peo, there is no looking back. Remember that the chances of getting stuck between Puh – Nako – Tabo Road are usually high.

    Stay overnight at hotel/homestay at Kalpa/Reckong Peo.

  • Day 3 - Kalpa to Tabo (149 Km)

    Start your day early and watch the vistas en route over Hindustan Tibet Highway. Today, we drive 150 km to Tabo. On the way, we will visit Nako Village and the beautiful lake, Leo Purgil Peak, which is the highest mountain in Himachal Pradesh. We will see the peak again from the famous Khab Bridge.

    You can also check out Khab, the confluence of Spiti and Satluj Rivers.

    After having lunch at Nako you will be taken to see the Nako Lake, which remains frozen in the winters.

    After Chango – Sumdo, you will have entered the Spiti Valley.

    Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel and in the evening, visit the “Ajanta of Himalayas”- Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in North India.

  • Day 4 - Tabo to Kaza (49 Km)

    Take the morning easy, have your breakfast and visit Dhankar Monastery if the road is open – the monument which hangs on a cliff and overlooks the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers, was once the seat of power in the region in ancient times.

    Continue your ride to Kaza. On the way, you will be visiting the Mummy of Sangha Tenzin. The legend of this mummy is that it was found sitting and frozen in time. The mummy has a rosary in his hand, with all body parts still intact and a strange belt running down his back.

    Upon arrival in Kaza, you will check into the homestay. Make the most of your homestay experience by learning about local life, festivals and traditions from the host family.

  • Day 5 - Kaza and Around

    After breakfast, visit the Key monastery and Kibber Village, which was once the highest village of Asia. This trip will only happen if the roads are clear.

    Key Monastery, located on the top of a mountain, overlooking the Spiti Valley and the Spiti River is one of the majestic places in all of Spiti. A center of religion, the location of this place will for sure win your heart over and over again.

    After this experience, you will be going to visit the Kibber Village, which was once the highest village in the world.

    You will be staying in a homestay in the Key Monastery, so make the most of your experience. Since you are ending the day early, so if you wish to, you can even help out in the kitchen in your homestay and learn to make local food like momos or thukpa.

  • Day 6 - Kaza to Pooh (144 Km)

    Start your day early and watch the vistas en route over Hindustan Tibet Highway.

    After Chango – Sumdo you will exit Spiti Valley and have your lunch at Nako.

    Later arrive at Puh where you can explore the village and visit the local monastery.

    Overnight stay in Pooh.

  • Day 7 - Pooh to Sarahan (85 Km)

    Enjoy the day at Sangla Valley, Visit Kamru Fort at Sangla.

    Sangla is a picturesque place, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The drive through the narrow road is spectacular, where your car will cross over streams, and there are endless pastures, meadows below the lofty peaks and greenery all around.

    Reach Sarahan by the evening and overnight stay will be in the guest house in Sarahan.

  • Day 8 - Sarahan to Shimla (162 Km)

    After breakfast, leave for your last stop of this beautiful ride, Shimla. On the way to Shimla, take lunch at Narkanda. Instead of Narkanda, the tour will lead to Shimla this time. with a stay here as well.

    In evening, you are free to explore the town. If you wish to have a city tour then guide can take you around to visit the city.

    Overnight stay in Shimla.

  • Day 9 - Shimla to Chandigarh. (150 Km)

    Leave early in the morning for Chandigarh to catch a ride back to your hometown. Visit the Ridge, Mall Road, Lakkar Bazaar and Jakhu Temple in Shimla.

    The trip ends here.
