How to Reach:

By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi is a feasible option for travelling to Spiti as it serves both domestic and well as International flights.

By Rail: Another Alternative is New Delhi Railway Station, through which most trains arrive and depart from Delhi to all around India.

By Road: Also Delhi is well connected by bus to major cities like Jaipur, Agra, Alwar, Dehradun and even Kathmandu among others.

Spiti Valley in Winter Itinerary

Day 1
Departure from Delhi to Shimla | A Beautiful Town Encapsulated by Magical Misty Hills
Delhi
  • Once you reach Delhi, you will have to proceed towards your boarding point of an AC Volvo Bus for the overnight journey from Delhi to Shimla.
Day 2
Shimla to Chitkul | The Last Inhabited Village at the Indo-Tibetan Border
Chitkul
  • Reach Shimla early in the morning and meet a representative who will give you a quick overview of the tour and help you with the smooth transfer to Chitkul.
  • Travel along the Sutlej river till Karcham from where you will take a right turn towards Chitkul following the Baspa river.
  • Chitkul is the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border and here you can also visit the famous ‘Hindustan ka Akhri Dhaba’ for an amazing meal.
  • Overnight stay and dinner at hotel/homestay in Chitkul.
Day 3
Chitkul to Kalpa | Spot the Sacred Shivling Rock Atop the Kailash Mountain
Kalpa
  • After having a hearty breakfast, you will leave for Kalpa.
  • You will be driving back towards Karcham from where you will proceed deeper into the valley towards Powari.
  • At Powari take a left to ride to RecKong Peo, which is the main town of Kinnaur district from where you will proceed to Kalpa.
  • Spend the night in the beautiful Kalpa village overlooking the Kinnaur Kailash mountains.
  • Overnight stay at camp/homestay in Kalpa.
Day 4
Kalpa to Kaza via Nako | Spin the 500 Year Old Prayer Wheel Made of Yak Skin at Nako
Kaza
  • After early morning breakfast, you will be leaving for Kaza passing through the beautiful Spiti Valley.
  • En route, you will be taking the Indo-Tiber Highway and pass through the Khab bridge that marks the confluence of Spiti and the Satluj River.
  • Take a short stopover at Nako Lake and have lunch, after which you will be entering the Spiti Valley right as soon as you cross Sumdo.
  • Just 3 Km after Sumdo, take a detour on the right through the gate to visit the 500-Year-Old Mummy in the Gue Village.
  • You will then proceed towards Kaza.
  • Overnight stay at a hotel in Kaza.
Day 5
Sightseeing in Kaza | Walk the Artistically Painted Rooms at Key Monastery
Kaza
  • Wake up early in the morning to a beautiful view of the sunrise and have a healthy breakfast.
  • You will first visit the world-famous Ki Monastery nestled between the mountains in a bowl-shaped valley of the small village Langza in Spiti valley.
  • You will then go farther up the valley to the picturesque village of Kibber to treasure the expanses of beautiful landscapes and immeasurable beauty of the snow-tipped mountains.
  • From Kibber, drive to Chicham to visit the Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia.
  • Look down the bridge and you will find yourself gaping below, at a 1000 ft. deep gorge.
  • If time permits, you can also visit the secluded village of Gette where you can absorb stunning aerial views of Kaza and tie a prayer flag.
  • Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 6
Sightseeing in Kaza | Send out Postcards Stamped at the Top of the World
Kaza
  • Enjoy a hearty breakfast before you drive to some of the highest inhabited regions of the world.
  • First, you will be visiting the highest village in Asia, Komik, which literally translates to ‘eye of a snow cock’.
  • You will then proceed to Hikkim for a visit to the world’s highest post office in the world and if possible, you may even meet the postmaster and hear his stories.
  • After sending out a postcard, you will be driving to Langza, a village that is home to the ancient Lang Temple which is estimated to be around 1000 years old.
  • After exploring the beautiful villages of Komik, Hikkim and Langza, return back to your hotel in Kaza for an overnight stay.
Day 7
Kaza to Kalpa | Explore the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas' at Tabo
Kalpa
  • After breakfast, you will be retracing your path back towards Kalpa.
  • Travelling along the Spiti river, take a short stopover at Tabo to visit the oldest running monastery in India.
  • You will then continue towards the Kinnaur Valley leaving behind the Spiti Valley to reach Powari.
  • At Powari take a right turn towards RecKong Peo and continue uphill to reach Kalpa.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Kalpa.
Day 8
Kalpa to Shimla and Departure to Delhi | Leave Behind the Beautiful Kinnaur Valley with Beautiful Memories Etched in your Heart
Shimla
  • Post breakfast at the hotel, you will head towards Shimla, known as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh.
  • First, you will travel down to Powari from where you will be taking a right turn onto the NH 5 along the Satluj River.
  • You will then travel through the slithering roads following the Satluj and passing the rich Deodhar forests to reach Shimla.
  • On reaching Shimla, transfer directly to Shimla Bus Stand for boarding an overnight bus to Delhi.
Day 9
Reach Delhi | End of Trip With a Bag Full of Life Time Memories
Delhi
  • In the morning your bus will be reaching Delhi and this will mark the end of your memorable tour to Spiti Valley.

Know Before You Go for Spiti Valley in Winter

  • Minimum 2 people are required to book this tour.
  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; it is advisable that you take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the tour. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the tour.
  • Thrillophilia reserves the right to rearrange the itinerary due to any kind of disturbance that occurred (i.e weather condition, political condition or any others) without changing the total number of days and without compromising any service.
  • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the tour or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed
  • Pay heed to the tour guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound tour.
  • All entry tickets for stupas, monasteries, sightseeing, state and entry fees, monument entrances, camera charges, permits, etc. are not a part of the package.
  • GST is applicable to the package cost.
  • Any personal expenses or items of personal nature will not be included in the package. Any meals or transfers not mentioned in the itinerary are to be considered an exclusion in the deal. Any kind of drink (alcoholic, aerated, or mineral water) is not included in the package cost.
  • Carry enough cash as the number of ATMs in high-altitude regions are comparatively less and there are long queues at times.
  • All the travellers are requested to carry a copy of their medical certificate (if any) with them.
  • Transportation during the trip would be in Non AC & Non-Heater vehicles. Please wear clothes according to the weather while travelling.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government is to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitization and use of mask recommended.
  • ID proof is mandatory for each individual guest at the time of booking, and also upon arrival. PAN card will not be considered as a valid address proof.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the tour. The advisable baggage weight is 60 litres as you might have to carry the luggage to the backup vehicle, the accommodation, etc.
  • Rates may fluctuate with any change in services/hotels. The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to an increase in the number of guests, hotel change, etc., before the beginning of the trip.
  • The hotels are subject to their availability. In case they are not available, the travellers will be accommodated in a property of similar standard.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Any breakage or damage of any items in the resort will be charged at actuals.
