The beauty of the North Eastern part of India lies in its lush green surroundings, in the ethnicity of the natives and in its beautiful dense jungles that are home to some of the most majestic and awe inspiring creatures. This wonderful journey into the heart and spirit of Assam will take guests to a number of destinations in the state such as Dibrugarh, Jorhat, the Majuli Island, the Nameri National Park and the Kaziranga National Park.

This beautiful journey will start from the capital city of Dibrugarh where guests can soak in the refreshing and mesmeric beauty of tea estates. As the caravan moves ahead, guests will have the opportunity to witness some of the most splendid sights in Assam and experience the spirit of the state through interaction with the local community, visits to local bazaars and tours into the fantastic wildlife sanctuaries of the state.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Kaziranga to Guwahati

    After breakfast, you will be driven to Guwahati. Flight to Kolkata. 

  • Day 2 - Dibrugarh - Mon (190 kms- 5 hours approximately by road)

    Day at Leisure

    After breakfast in Dibrugarh, you will be driven to Mon. Your stay will be arranged at a homestay. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Mon.

  • Day 3 - Mon (Nagaland)

    Visit to Konyak Village, visit to Shangnyu Tribal Village, tour of Angh’s Palace, tour of Sangha.

    On the third day, you will be taken to the tribal villages of Mon. Explore the beautiful villages of the Konyak and Shangnyu. The Shangnyu village is one of the prominent villages in Mon and is ruled by Chief Angh. An interesting fact about the village is that in its centre it has a beautiful wooden monument, which measures 8 feet in height and 12 feet in breadth. This monument is believed to have been built by angels. You can also explore the Angh’s palace and read through the memorial stones found in front of the palace. History records that the Shangnyu and Ahom kings shared friendly relations. You will also be taken to Sangha to see headhunting trophies. During this trip, you will also be able to see traditional Konyak houses built out of palm leaves.

    Overnight stay in Mon.

  • Day 4 - Mon to Jorhat (110 km- 4 hours by road)

    Drive to Jorhat, tour through Local Bazaars

    After breakfast and checkout from the home stay at Mon, you will be driven to Jorhat. Later you can enjoy a guided tour in the colourful bazaars of Jorhat. Overnight stay in Jorhat.

  • Day 5 - Jorhat-Nimatighat-Majuli (275 km – 1.5 hours on ferry)

    Ferry Ride to Majuli, Sightseeing of Sattras

    After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Nimatighat, which is situated at a distance of about 18 km from the ferry ghat. From the ferry ghat, you will be taken to Majuli (approximately one and a half hours on the ferry). Majuli is the largest fresh water mid-river deltoid island in the world. Situated in the upper reaches of the River Brahmnaputra, Majuli is a biodiversity hotspot and is home to rare species of flora and fauna. From here, you will be transferred to a basic hotel on arrival. Later in the day, you will be taken on a sightseeing trip in and around Majuli. You will be taken to visit the Sattras. Sattras are the main depositories of cultural and spiritual heritage and are similar to the Gurukulas of the ancient times.

    Overnight stay in Majuli.

  • Day 6 - Majuli to Ziro (226 km – 05 hours approximately)

    Day at Leisure

    After breakfast at Majuli, you will be driven to Ziro. You will be checked into a hotel at Ziro. Overnight stay at Ziro.

  • Day 7 - Ziro

    Visit to the Apatani Village, visit to the Hong Village, visit to Local Market, lunch at Local Restaurant

    After breakfast, you will be taken to Ziro, which is home to the Apatani tribe. The Apatani tribe is a Tibeto-Mongoloid race, which is believed to have migrated from the Tibet region. The most interesting and recognised practice of the Apatani group is the paddy-cum-pisciculture form of agriculture. This has been recognised internationally and has been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You can also hire a bicycle during the trip to visit the Hong village, which is the largest village in the Apatani plateau and the second largest in Asia. Later, you can visit the Hari, Bulla, Hija and Dutta villages. You can have lunch from a local restaurant. In the evening you will be taken to visit a local market.

    Overnight stay at Ziro.

  • Day 8 - Ziro-Nameri (180 kms – 2 ½ hours drive by road)

    After breakfast, you will be driven to Nameri and checked into an eco-camp. Dinner and overnight stay at Nameri.

  • Day 9 - Nameri

    Early morning trip to the Nameri National Park, rafting trip on Jia-Bhoreli River, trek back to camp.

    Early in the morning at 5.30 am, you will be taken on a walkthrough trip of 3.2 kms to the Nameri National Park. Spread over an area of 200 square kilometres, the national park is a tiger reserve and a bird paradise.After having breakfast, you will be able to enjoy a rafting trip on the mild rapids of the Jia-Bhoreli River, which flows along the National Park. You will trek back to the camp at the end of the trip.

    Overnight stay at Nameri.
