Book Tour and Activities on the Go!
Goecha La is a high mountain pass in the Himalayan range. The trek starts at the sleepy little town of Yuksom in West Sikkim. The town is very pretty with lush green surroundings and a salubrious weather to go with it. You can shop for all supplies at Yuksom before beginning the trek as this is the only place where you will get to buy all your necessary items.
Furthermore, before trekking the Goecha La, you will have to do two things, first make an entry at the local police station and second pay the permit fees at the forest check post. Usually the agencies take care of all these hassles and you will not have to bother about them.
The first phase of the trek to Goecha La will take you from Yuksom to Sachen. Yuksom is situated at an altitude of 5,700 feet and Sachen is situated at an elevation of 7, 200 feet. The trekking trail passes through a route of immense natural beauty. You will come across lush green fields, valley of the Rathong River and thick forests. From Sachen you will need to climb ahead to Tshoka which is at an altitude of 9,650 feet.
This trek is quite enjoyable in the initial phase but becomes tryingly steep towards the later phase. On reaching Bakhim, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Yuksom valley. As you trek on ahead, you pass through Dzongri and Phedang. You will also be able to enjoy the beauty of some of the densest rhododendron forests in India and get a breathtaking view of the highest mountains in the Himalayan range. You will pass through the beautiful Samiti Lake which will mesmerise you with its sparkling blue waters.
The entire journey from Yuksom to Goecha La is a treat to the eyes. Despite being a test of physical stamina, the route is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful routes that you can come across while trekking in the Himalayas.

It was a dream come true for me and some of my friends. We have been planning a trek to Sikkim for a long time. We are a group of all girls and we were looking for some packages only for women. But we did not get many options. Finally we decided to book a tour package with other people also. But it went well. We did not face any trouble during the whole trip and very much thankful to all the people came with us and the guides. There was a woman manager too in the group since we were in the trip. Sikkim is a treasure house. It has everything for any age group. The trek was simply amazing. We were so excited and the routes were challenging. Our parents were asking how can we do trekking all alone. But I think, Kanchendzonga and other mountains in Sikkim do not have such variations as boys or girls. It was welcoming from the starting point to the end. Guys, the views from the top were extra ordinary. What we can see are long stretches of mountains and the snow cladding peak tops. The sunrise views were omg extremely astounding. The peaks were glittering in the first rays and it is the most scenic sight. We found yaks too. I was seeing yaks for the first time. They are so cute. Gentle too. But was scared to touch and pamper. What if they do not like us. They were roaming around freely. We were slow at many points since the routes were not so smooth but challenging too. So we had to stop in between, hydrate ourselves and continue. So according to the schedule we could not finish the trek also the last day was a little messed up. We could not explore the places as we discussed earlier but we did not feel it as a loss. Since all the places we saw were absolutely beautiful. We’ll plan some similar trips in the future and will head out to conquer the paths with more energy.

I decided to do a solo Himalayan trekking in a spur of the moment, on a Sunday afternoon. I randomly googled for the organisers and Thrillophilia were the only guys to come back with answers. They suggested me to do the Sandakhphu trek as it was my first trek as well. And I am glad they did.I would recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for an adventure as the difficulty is easy to moderate. This lets you experience not only the rich flora and fauna of the region but also gives a glimpse of the lifestyle of the pahadi people. Finally, as we watched the Mountain Goddess Kanchenjunga shining in all its grandeur, at Sandakphu, we felt every bit of the effort is worth it.

It is difficult to explain my entire experience in few words. It was an awesome experience which I would cherish my whole life.. of course it's the the only highest place in West Bengal at an altitude of 3636m that is inhabited. Places we covered throughout the trek starting from maneybhanjan include Tumbling kalipokhri to sandakphu and then all the way down timburee and Therewise srikhola. Loved each and evry minute that I spent on this trek.

What I liked the most about this trek is the variation in the terrains. At diffferent places, it offers totally different experience. Moreover, this is one of the treks that offered me fascinating views of Kanchenjunga, Mt Everest, Lhotse and Makalu peaks on the same go. Once, I was at the peak, I felt hyptonised by the beauty around. In this region, it is indeed the best treks to take.

We were a group of 5 people and we weren't so sure about how the trip will be because: But it turned out to be an awesome experience, April is the best time to see the rhododendrons blooming. However, starting from the landrover ride uphill, the short 5 km trek in the steep uphill to the snowfall and the other treks was something that we enjoyed the most.
