HOLY ROCK

Holy Rock Chungthang is a mesmerising place located in Chungthang, near Bhim Nala Waterfalls. Devotees believe that Legend Guru Padmasambhava, one of the founding fathers of Tibetan Buddhism, left his footprints on the sacred rock. During your visit, you can spot these footprints of Guru Padmasambhava.

The interesting fact is that there is a small opening in the holy rock through which the mineral water keeps flowing continuously, even today. The rock is surrounded by a small patch of land on which paddy is cultivated. It is said that he sprinkled a handful of paddy on the land, and ever since then, the land has been fertile for grain cultivation.

How To Reach

By Road: Holy Rock Chungthang is near Bhim Nala Waterfalls which is approximately 11km from the city centre of Lachung, Sikkim. You can cover the distance by travelling in shared taxis/ jeeps, which takes around 20 minutes to reach. Moreover, you can also travel on your own by hiring a cab, private taxi or driving yourself.
