To reach Manali from Vadodara, there are no direct flights or trains, so a combination of air, train, and road travel is needed. The quickest route is flying to Delhi (1.5 hrs) or Chandigarh (2.5 hrs, usually with a layover), then driving 12–14 hours to Manali by cab or Volvo bus. You can also take a train to Chandigarh, Ambala, or Kalka with a change at Delhi; from there, continue by road. Buses from Delhi, including HRTC and private Volvos, offer overnight journeys to Manali.
There are no direct trains to Manali from Vadodara, as the hill town has no railway station. The most feasible option is to take a train from Vadodara to Delhi (12–16 hours) or to Ambala/Chandigarh (20–24 hours), followed by a road journey to Manali. From Delhi, overnight Volvo or HRTC buses take 12–14 hours, while from Chandigarh or Ambala, the drive is around 9–11 hours. Joginder Nagar is the nearest narrow-gauge station but isn’t practical for long-distance travellers.
