Kenya Holiday Packages from Mumbai

Reviewed by Thrillophilia Kenya Operations Team

Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai range from INR 60,000 for a 3-day trip and go up to INR 1,70,000+ for a 7-day trip. These itineraries cover iconic wildlife reserves, vast savannahs, Rift Valley lakes, Indian Ocean beaches, and unforgettable Big Five safari experiences across Kenya.

Kenya rewards travellers who spend less time changing hotels and more time inside its national parks. A lion sighting cannot be scheduled, and game drives often begin before sunrise, making lodge selection and park sequencing more important than covering the maximum number of destinations. The best Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai therefore focus on maximising wildlife viewing hours instead of long overland transfers.

Thrillophilia’s booking data shows that the Masai Mara and Lake Naivasha circuit remains the preferred choice, with travellers awarding these experiences an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. We carefully plan safari departures, lodge check-ins, and park entry schedules to help travellers make the most of their time in the wilderness through our Kenya tour packages from Mumbai.

Choosing the right Kenya package from Mumbai depends on how immersive you want your safari experience to be. A short Masai Mara itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors, while longer Kenya tours covering destinations like Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Diani Beach, or Tanzania allow travellers to explore diverse landscapes, wildlife habitats, and coastal experiences at a comfortable pace.

From watching the Great Migration thunder across the Masai Mara to photographing elephants against Mount Kilimanjaro or relaxing on the white sands of Diani Beach after days of safari adventures, our Kenya itineraries combine well-planned logistics with authentic wildlife experiences across East Africa.

How to Reach Kenya from Mumbai

A well-planned itinerary for Kenya tour packages from Mumbai is widely considered one of the most accessible long-haul international holidays for Indian travellers because highly efficient direct flight connectivity drastically reduces travel fatigue.

Flying into Nairobi (NBO)

The most efficient way to start your journey is to fly directly from Mumbai (BOM) to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi. Kenya Airways and IndiGo operate highly reliable daily direct flights on this specific route. The flight time is approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes. This direct link allows you to depart Mumbai in the morning and arrive in Nairobi with enough time to rest before your safari begins the next day.

Connecting Flight Options

If direct flights are unavailable or priced too high for your specific dates, connecting options via Middle Eastern hubs are highly common and offer excellent service. Carriers like Emirates (via Dubai), Qatar Airways (via Doha), and Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa) offer multiple daily connections. However, these layovers can increase your total travel time to 10 or 14 hours. When booking your Kenya tours from Mumbai, we strongly recommend prioritising the direct IndiGo or Kenya Airways flights to preserve your physical energy for the demanding safari drives ahead.

Visa & Entry Requirements for Kenya Tour Packages from Mumbai

Indian travellers booking Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travelling to Kenya. The eTA must be applied for online through the official Kenya immigration portal before departure and is generally processed within 3 to 5 working days. Travellers should ensure their passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry and keep their return flight tickets, accommodation details, and travel itinerary ready while applying.

As most travellers fly directly from Mumbai to Nairobi, it is also advisable to check the latest health and entry requirements before departure, including any Yellow Fever vaccination certificate requirements applicable at the time of travel. Thrillophilia also assists travellers with eTA guidance, travel documentation, and pre-departure support to ensure a smooth start to their Kenya holiday.

Best Time to Visit Kenya from Mumbai

The ideal time to execute your Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai depends entirely on whether you prioritise witnessing the Great Migration or prefer lower crowd density and better lodge pricing.

  • Peak Migration Season (July to October): This is the best time to witness the Great Migration as millions of wildebeest and zebras cross into the Masai Mara from the Serengeti. The dramatic river crossings and excellent wildlife sightings make it the busiest safari season, so booking 6 to 8 months in advance is recommended.
  • Dry Season (January to March): Dry weather draws animals to waterholes, making wildlife easier to spot. Sparse vegetation also improves visibility, while migratory birds make this an excellent season for birdwatching.
  • Long Rains (April to May): Heavy rainfall transforms Kenya into a lush green landscape, but muddy roads can affect safari experiences. Many lodges offer attractive discounts during the April to May period, making it suitable for budget trips to Kenya for travellers willing to accept occasional weather disruptions.

Best Places and National Parks to Cover on a Kenya Tour

Choosing the right route determines the overall success of your holiday. We recommend focusing closely on these highly proven, globally renowned geographical regions. Below are some of the best places to visit in Kenya:

Masai Mara National Reserve

This is the absolute crown jewel of Kenyan tourism and a mandatory inclusion in all Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai. Masai Mara National Reserve is world-famous for its incredibly high concentration of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. More importantly, from July to September, it serves as the stage for the Great Migration, where over two million wildebeest and zebras cross the crocodile-infested Mara River in search of greener pastures.

Amboseli National Park

Located precisely at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro (which sits across the border in Tanzania), Amboseli National Park offers the absolute most iconic, highly photographed views in Africa. It is the definitive best place on the continent to see massive, free-ranging herds of elephants against the stunning backdrop of Africa's highest peak.

As per Thrillophilia’s on-ground team, Amboseli is incredibly dry and dusty. Photographers should carry highly protective dust covers for their camera gear.

Many travellers consider Amboseli to be one of the highlights of their safari. After booking the Kenya Wildlife Adventures | A Land of Safari & Splendors package with Thrillophilia, Mumbai traveller Vishal Patil shared, "Thrillophilia. Amboseli National Park with Kilimanjaro perfectly framed behind a herd of 50 elephants is an image I will carry forever. Thrillophilia arranged a very comfortable eco-lodge with open views of the plains. Transfers from Nairobi were punctual and smooth. Worth every bit of the long flight.”

Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha

Located in the Great Rift Valley, these lakes break up the long drive between Nairobi and the Masai Mara. Lake Nakuru is well-known for its massive populations of pink flamingos (though water levels fluctuate) and is a highly guarded sanctuary for both black and white rhinos. Nearby Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake offering highly unique boat safaris where you can sail directly past massive pods of submerged hippopotamuses.

Diani Beach

Voted repeatedly as one of the absolute best beaches in Africa, Diani is located south of Mombasa. It offers pristine coral reefs, swaying palm trees, and highly striking turquoise waters. It is the perfect, highly relaxed environment to unwind after the early mornings and dusty, bumpy roads of a heavy safari itinerary. Access to Diani usually requires a short domestic flight from Nairobi (Wilson Airport) to Ukunda airstrip.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Situated in the Laikipia region, this private conservancy is globally renowned for its highly successful rhino conservation efforts. It is home to the last remaining Northern White Rhinos on earth and a massive sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. Because it is a private conservancy, it allows for highly restricted activities like night game drives and guided bush walks, which are strictly banned in standard national reserves.

Top Experiences to Include in Kenya Tours

To get the absolute best return on your investment, ensure your Kenya tour packages from Mumbai include these high-value experiences that define the geography and thrill of East Africa. Here are some of the best things to do in Kenya:

Hot Air Balloon Safari

Floating silently over the Masai Mara at dawn is a quintessential, life-changing experience for many travellers. As you glide above the open plains, you can witness the sun rising over the horizon and massive herds of animals moving directly below your basket. This highly premium activity usually lasts one hour and culminates in a lavish champagne breakfast set up right in the middle of the African bush.

Night Game Drives

Available exclusively in private conservancies (like Ol Pejeta or the Mara Conservancies), night drives offer a highly rare, exhilarating opportunity to see active nocturnal animals like aardvarks, bushbabies, and hunting predators (leopards and lions). Equipped with special red-light spotlights, ranger guides track glowing eyes in the darkness, adding a massive layer of mystery to the traditional safari experience.

Hiking Point Lenana (Mount Kenya)

For highly active adventurers, Mount Kenya offers various demanding trekking routes. Reaching Point Lenana (4,985 metres) is a highly challenging but deeply rewarding mountaineering achievement that provides panoramic views of the entire Rift Valley. It offers the thrill of high-altitude trekking without the extreme technical difficulty or crowds associated with climbing Kilimanjaro.

Travellers looking for adventure often rate Mount Kenya as one of the most rewarding experiences in the country. After booking the Classic Kenya | Group Tour Package with Thrillophilia, Mumbai traveller Tanya Bose shared, "Our Mumbai to Kenya trip was a great experience from start to finish. The Mount Kenya trek was challenging but very rewarding, with stunning views throughout the journey. Our guides were supportive and made sure we stayed safe and comfortable. Everything was well organised, and we returned home happy with the overall planning and service by Thrillophilia.”

Snorkelling and Diving at Kisite-Mpunguti

The Kenyan coast is heavily protected by a massive, continuous coral reef system. The Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park, located near Diani Beach, is an absolutely excellent, highly regulated spot for snorkelling with wild dolphins, spotting sea turtles, and exploring vibrantly coloured underwater marine life.

Food Guide for Kenya Tours from Mumbai: Vegetarian & Indian Meal Options

Food is an important part of planning international wildlife holidays, especially when travelling for multiple days across safari regions. Kenya offers a mix of local African flavours, international cuisine, and Indian-inspired dishes, making it convenient for travellers with different dietary preferences.

Traditional Kenyan dishes such as Nyama Choma (grilled meat), Ugali (maize-based staple), Sukuma Wiki (greens), and Swahili seafood preparations are popular choices, especially in Nairobi and coastal areas like Diani Beach. Safari lodges included in Thrillophilia’s Kenya tour packages from Mumbai usually serve buffet-style meals with a combination of local, continental, and international options to suit travellers during their safari stay.

For travellers choosing Kenya holiday packages from Mumbai, vegetarian food is generally easy to arrange. Most established safari lodges can prepare vegetarian, Jain, and vegan meals when dietary preferences are shared in advance. Thrillophilia helps coordinate such meal requirements with selected accommodations, ensuring travellers have a comfortable dining experience throughout their trip. Indian food options are also widely available in Nairobi, where travellers can find familiar dishes like curries, dal, rotis, and vegetarian meals.

During safari stays, meals are usually included as part of the package and are planned around game drive timings. Early morning safaris often include packed breakfasts or picnic lunches, allowing travellers to spend more time inside reserves like the Maasai Mara without missing important wildlife viewing hours. With well-planned meal arrangements and safari logistics, Kenya tours from Mumbai offer a comfortable experience for both adventure seekers and travellers with specific food preferences.

Can I do a self-drive safari in Kenya during my Kenya tour from Mumbai?

While self-drive safaris are possible, they are not recommended for first-time visitors, especially those booking Kenya tours from Mumbai. National park roads can be challenging to navigate, and professional driver-guides have better knowledge of wildlife movement, park routes, and safety protocols. Most Thrillophilia Kenya itineraries include experienced safari guides to make wildlife exploration smoother and more rewarding.

What is the Kenya eTA and how long does it take to get approved?

Kenya uses an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system for international visitors, which must be completed online before travel. The approval process usually takes a few working days, though travellers are advised to apply well before their departure date. Thrillophilia assists with travel documentation and helps travellers prepare the required details for a hassle-free journey.
