Best Time to Go For Kenya Trip From Delhi

Kenya is a fantastic destination to visit from Delhi at any time of the year. Each season here brings its unique beauty and activities.

1. Peak Season: The months from July to October make the peak season in Kenya. During these months, the weather conditions are ideal for safaris. This is when the famous Great Migration takes place, making it a prime time for wildlife enthusiasts. The temperature during these months ranges from 20°C to 26°C, perfect for outdoor activities. Booking Kenya packages from Delhi during this period means you will witness nature's spectacular events, like the Mara River crossings. Besides wildlife, July and August host vibrant cultural festivals like the Maralal Camel Derby.

2. Shoulder Season: From November to mid-December, the short rains turn the landscape of Kenya lush green and enhance the beauty of the savannahs. Temperatures are mild, and the parks are less crowded, offering a more relaxed safari experience. It is a great time for bird watching and catching the tail-end of the migration in some areas with the Kenya packages from Delhi.

3. Waning Season: The waning season sees hot and dry weather from January to February, with temperatures soaring between 25°C to 30°C. This season is perfect for visiting coastal areas like Mombasa for snorkelling or exploring inland attractions like Hell’s Gate National Park. During this period, the Kenya holiday packages from Delhi allow you to enjoy lesser-known cultural events and the vibrant local life before the rainy season begins in March.

How to Reach Kenya From Delhi

By Air: The most convenient way to reach Kenya from Delhi is by air. Thrillophilia's Kenya tour packages from Delhi are designed with the flight times in mind. These packages also provide couples with seamless airport transfers. You can take a flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. The flights usually take 7 hours and 15 minutes and are operated by Air India on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Weather in Kenya

Due to its diverse landscape, Kenya experiences various weather conditions. Two main seasons appeal to visitors: the dry season and the wet season. Each offers unique experiences and scenery for travellers availing of Kenya holiday packages from Delhi.

1. Dry Season: From June to October, Kenya enjoys its dry season. The weather is generally warm and sunny, with temperatures between 20°C and 26°C. Kenya has low humidity and little rainfall this season, making it the most popular period for wildlife safaris. Animals are easier to spot as they gather around water sources, and the sparse vegetation enhances visibility. This season is ideal for safaris in popular destinations like the Masai Mara and Tsavo National Park. The dry season also coincides with cultural events such as the Maralal Camel Derby, offering visitors a glimpse into local traditions.

2. Wet Season: Split into two phases, the wet season brings long rains from March to May and short rains from November to December. During these months, rainfall is more frequent, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C. The environment transforms into a vibrant green, attracting a burst of new life as many animals give birth. Although this season offers a different kind of beauty, heavier rains can sometimes hinder travel by making roads difficult to navigate, and some attractions might close temporarily.

It was my childhood dream to visit Africa to see Nature in all its rich splendour. So me (69 years) and my wife Pearlin (65 years) decided to visit Kenya for a short 6 day trip. I decided that a customised trip will only meet my needs so we planned two days in Ambosili, a day in Lake Naivasha, a day in Lake Nakuru and two days in Masai Mara. We landed early morning at Nairobi from Mumbai We were lucky to have Mr Gideon, a strapping Masai youth, as our Guide cum driver. He was very fluent in English. He had a terrific net work of friends who were constantly feeding information. I was surprised of his familiarity of the Masai Mara. But for... Read More

Booked: Masai Mara Safari Package from India
Travelled From: Delhi
Maasai Mara is one of those places that redefines your sense of scale and wildness. We witnessed part of the Great Migration and I genuinely had no words for what I was seeing. The big cats were everywhere - lions resting, cheetahs hunting, leopards in the trees. Our naturalist guide had thirty years of experience in the Mara and it showed in every game drive. This is the kind of experience that stays with you permanently.
