Meghalaya Holiday Packages from Delhi

Reviewed by Thrillophilia Meghalaya Operations Team

Updated as of June 2026

Meghalaya tour packages from Delhi range between INR 17,000 and INR 37,215 per person for 4 to 9-day itineraries, covering the misty hills of Shillong, the waterfalls of Cherrapunji, the crystal-clear waters of Dawki, and several offbeat destinations across the state.

These packages include flights, accommodation, and on-ground transfers.

According to Thrillophilia internal booking data, the 5-night format remains the most-booked duration from Delhi as it allows the road-heavy itinerary enough time to breathe.

Meghalaya is a road-trip destination where your choice of gateway city, specifically Guwahati versus Shillong, impacts your travel pace more than your choice of hotel.

Our destination experts create routes that balance sightseeing with enough leisure, ensuring you can comfortably explore iconic attractions like Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Elephant Falls, Mawlynnong, Laitlum Canyon, and Umngot River. Depending on your travel style, you can choose from short weekend getaways, offbeat adventures, honeymoon trips, or longer journeys that combine Meghalaya with Kaziranga National Park and Guwahati.

Thrillophilia’s Meghalaya packages from Delhi have over 500 reviews and are rated 4.6 by hundreds of travelers. From booking flights for your Delhi to Meghalaya trip and planning transfers to recommending the best season for waterfalls or trekking, our experts assist you throughout your journey.

How to Reach Meghalaya from Delhi

Flying is the only practical option if you’re booking a Meghalaya tour package from Delhi. While train and road options exist, they are significantly longer and unsuitable for a standard 4 to 7-night duration.

Flying directly from Delhi is superior to routing through hub cities like Kolkata, as it saves 4 to 6 hours of layover time and reduces the risk of baggage delays.

Nearest Airport:

Shillong Airport (SHL): Located in Umroi, approximately 30 km from Shillong city center.

Guwahati Airport (GAU): Located approximately 115 km from Shillong; serves as the primary entry point for 90% of Delhi travellers.

Nearest Railway Station:

Guwahati Railway Station (GHY): Approximately 100 km from Shillong. It is the best-connected station for those choosing a rail-to-road approach, with a travel time of 3 to 4 hours by car to Shillong.

Ground Transfer and Road Routes:

Guwahati to Shillong: 3 to 4 hours via NH6. This is a well-maintained four-lane highway for most stretches.

Shillong to Sohra: Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours (54 km).

Shillong to Dawki: Roughly 2.5 to 3.5 hours (82 km).

Travel Tip: Use Guwahati for full-circuit itineraries (Shillong, Sohra, and Dawki) to access broader airline choices. Use Shillong Airport only if the flight timings fit a Shillong-centric stay.

Visa and Permits you Need for Delhi to Meghalaya trip

For Indian Citizens: An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is not required for Indian citizens visiting Meghalaya as of June 2026. However, Meghalaya is a border state, and government-issued photo ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, or Passport) is mandatory at all transit checkpoints.

Restricted Border Zones (Dawki/Shnongpdeng): While no special permit is needed for these areas, local authorities conduct mandatory document checks due to the proximity to the Bangladesh border.

How Thrillophilia Handles This: Your assigned driver-cum-guide coordinates the presentation of documents at checkpoints to ensure a smooth flow. We pre-verify your ID copies before the trip starts to avoid delays at Meghalaya entry points.

For Foreign Nationals: A valid Indian Visa is mandatory. NRIs or foreign passport holders should contact the Thrillophilia operations team for assistance with current entry requirements.

Note: Verify current fees and requirements at the official Meghalaya Tourism portal before applying.

Places to Visit

Here are some of the best places in Meghalaya that you need to add to your Delhi to Meghalaya itinerary:

1. Shillong

Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, serves as the perfect base for exploring the state. With plenty of hotels, cafes, and attractions, it is suitable for all kinds of travellers. Most visitors spend 1 to 2 days here before heading to other destinations. The city can be visited throughout the year and does not require any permits for sightseeing.

2. Sohra (Cherrapunji)

Known for its waterfalls, caves, and scenic viewpoints, Sohra is one of Meghalaya's biggest highlights. Spending a night here allows you to enjoy the attractions before crowds arrive from Shillong. Couples, families, and photographers usually spend 1 to 2 days exploring the region. Entry to attractions such as Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave is nominally priced.

3. Dawki and Umngot River

These are two such places that no one misses out on in their Meghalaya packages from Delhi. Dawki is famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River and its boating experiences. A half-day or full-day trip is usually enough to explore the area, making it popular among couples and friend groups.

Boat rides typically cost between INR 500 and INR 900 per boat, although water clarity is best during the dry season. This experience is loved by almost every traveller, and Tushar Gulati from Delhi says the same. He booked a Trip to Meghalaya with Kaziranga | Free Jeep Safari package. He says, “The Dawki boat ride was a highlight of the trip. Thanks to Thrillophilia for such a safe and memorable journey.”

4. Nongriat and the Double Decker Living Root Bridge

Nongriat is home to the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge, which can only be reached through a trek of around 3,500 steps each way. The trek takes around 3 to 5 hours and is best suited for active travellers and adventure seekers. Local guides are mandatory and charge approximately INR 800 to INR 1,200 per group.

5. Mawlynnong

Famous for its cleanliness and eco-friendly practices, Mawlynnong is a charming village that makes for an easy stop on the way to Dawki. Families and elderly travellers particularly enjoy visiting the village, with most spending around 2 to 3 hours here. Entry fees are minimal at around INR 20 per person.

6. Shnongpdeng

Shnongpdeng is Meghalaya's adventure hub and is popular for activities such as kayaking, cliff jumping, and camping by the river. An overnight stay is recommended for those wanting to enjoy the activities fully. Adventure activity prices generally range from INR 500 to INR 2,000 depending on the experience chosen.

Things to do

Your Meghalaya trip is incomplete without these amazing things to do in Meghalaya:

1. Boating on the Umngot River, Dawki

This activity involves a peaceful boat ride over the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River, where the riverbed is visible in the dry season. You can opt for a shared or private boat to explore the limestone rock formations and small river islands.

Cost per person: INR 200 to 450 (based on double sharing).

2. Caving at Mawsmai or Arwah Cave, Sohra

Explore the prehistoric limestone caves of Sohra, featuring lit walkways and narrow natural passages. While Mawsmai Caves are famous for its stalactites and stalagmites, Arwah Cave offers a deeper look at embedded fossils and underwater streams.

Cost per person: INR 20 to 50

3. Check the Viewpoint Circuits in Sohra

This is a circuit-based activity where you visit the iconic Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, and Dain-Thlen viewpoints. It is essential to reach these spots in the early morning before the afternoon mist obscures the valley views.

Exploring the Seven Sisters circuit from Delhi was a dream come true”, says Ayesha Nanda, who booked the Holidays in Meghalaya | FREE Visit to Elephant Falls package in January 2026 with Thrillophilia.

Cost per person: INR 20 to 50 (entry fee per viewpoint).

4. See a Breathtaking View on Nongriat Trek

This is a challenging descent down approximately 3,500 stone steps to reach the unique Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Along the way, you will cross suspension bridges and pass through dense subtropical forests and small Khasi villages.

Cost per person: INR 400 to 600 (based on shared guide fee)

5. Go Kayaking and Cliff Jumping, Shnongpdeng

Engage in water-based adventure activities at the Shnongpdeng camp near the Bangladesh border. You can paddle through the calm river stretches or opt for a supervised cliff jump into the deep pools of the Umngot River.

Cost per person: INR 300 to 800 per activity

Curated Itineraries

Our itineraries are built by Thrillophilia’s destination experts, which is why every day seems well-paced, and every itinerary is feasible. Appreciating these thoughtful itineraries is Saurabh Mishra from Delhi, who booked the Mesmerising Meghalaya | Group Tour package. He says, “My North East trip with Thrillophilia was a wonderful experience. The itinerary was well-paced, giving me enough time to relax and enjoy the journey.”

Below are some popular itineraries based on Thrillophilia’s internal data:

Itinerary 1: 4N/5D Shillong and Sohra (Budget)

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong

Day 2: Shillong Sightseeing and Umiam Lake

Day 3: Drive to Sohra (Cherrapunji) Viewpoints

Day 4: Laitumkhrah Market and Shillong Peak

Day 5: Transfer to Guwahati and Departure

Itinerary 2: 5N/6D Classic Circuit (Mid-Range)

Day 1: Arrival at Guwahati and Private Transfer to Shillong

Day 2: Shillong City Sightseeing and Local Culture

Day 3: High-Visibility Viewpoint Circuit in Sohra

Day 4: Arwah Cave Fossils and Transfer to the Riverside

Day 5: Umngot River Boating and Mawlynnong Village

Day 6: Final Transfer to Guwahati Airport

Itinerary 3: 6N/7D Extended with Nongriat (Active Groups)

Day 1: Delhi to Guwahati Flight and Shillong Transfer

Day 2: Shillong Exploration and Ward's Lake

Day 3: Sohra Waterfall Belt and Cliff Views

Day 4: Limestone Caves and Shnongpdeng Camps

Day 5: Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

Day 6: Recovery Day and Umiam Lake

Day 7: Guwahati Airport Drop and Departure

Practical note for Delhi travellers:

Many Delhi buyers are used to hill trips where you can pack multiple stops into one day. Meghalaya punishes that approach more quickly because winding roads, rain behaviour, and scenic stops naturally lengthen the days. It is better to have a well-spaced route than a rushed itinerary.

Why Thrillophilia for Meghalaya Packages from Delhi

Gateway advice built on route data: Most platforms push Shillong airport because it sounds closer. Our data shows Guwahati delivers better reliability for Delhi departures. We route you through the right entry point for your itinerary, not the one that looks better on a map.

We filter out the Nongriat mistake: Over 35% of travellers who add Nongriat spontaneously report regretting the decision due to physical difficulty or time pressure. We assess your fitness level and itinerary before recommending or including this trek.

Cliff-side Sohra property expertise: We have confirmed relationships with the limited number of quality properties in Sohra. These book out months in advance during October to February. Our team secures these allocations early.

Route and SIM expertise: Because Thrillophilia’s on-ground team knows Meghalaya very well, we know the logistics in remote areas and manage with local SIMs and drivers, ensuring communication is maintained even where connectivity is patchy.

Verified operational success: With a 4.6 rating across 3,200+ reviews and 4,500+ successful Meghalaya trips operated, we manage the logistics so the road does not manage you.

This is our second trip with Thrillophilia and our experience was as good as the 1st one to Rajasthan. This was a 7N8D trip to Assam and Meghalaya. As we went there in the last week of April we saw all the waterfalls in their full splendor. We also saw Emerald green river water. Clear water was visible at KrangShuri falls. We loved the trek to the Famed Single and Double Decker living root bridges. We trust Thrillophilia because of their excellent choice of comfortable hotels. Special mention about our driver, Rajkumar, after knowing that we are vegetarians he took us to some awesome restaurants through the journey. Also suggested an ama... Read More
