Smccu Sheikh Mohammed Centre For Cultural Understanding Overview

Witness the marvelous culture and customs of Dubai at the popular Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding or SMCCU as the acronym says. It was started in 1998 to help the visitors coming to Dubai get a proper knowledge and idea of the culture and the traditional customs of the Emiratis.

Here, the guests are allowed to take participation in the activities scheduled like Arabic classes, guided mosque visits etc. The wind tower house in the Al Fahidi Historical neighbouhood is where the centre is located. You will get to taste traditional cuisines here and also you can talk with the local people also. Its motto says like; Open Doors, Open Minds gives rather a warm welcome to all the questions which would be answered properly by the people here.

Head to lure the traditional Emirati breakfast, lunch or dinner post which you can start a guided tour of the location.

Highlights: You can visit the only mosque opened to non-Muslims in Dubai that is the Jumeirah Mosque but an SMCCU representative should be with you. A walking tour of Bastakiya if you book in advance can also be done here. Another highlight to be spoken about is the cultural lunch served with the traditional cuisines of the Gulf.

Location: Al Musalla Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. One can reach the centre in 16 minutes approximately covering about 10 kms.

Timings: The centre will be open from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm on working days except on Saturday. On Saturday it will be open from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

Price: The entry fee is 25 AED.
