  • Intercity transfers between destinations.
  • Selected sightseeing tours as mentioned in the itinerary.

How to Reach Kerala from Pune

Flights from Pune (PNQ) to Kochi (COK)

Flights are the most efficient way to plan Kerala tours from Pune, especially for short itineraries where travel time needs to stay minimal. Direct flights between Pune and Kochi take around 1 hour 45 minutes, making this route one of the quickest domestic connections for tropical travel. For most Kerala packages from Pune, flights help maximise time on ground experiences instead of long transit hours.

Train Journeys from Pune (The Kanyakumari Express Route)

Train travel remains the most popular travel option for any budget trip to Kerala from Pune, especially for travellers with flexible schedules. The Kanyakumari Express is one of the main routes connecting Pune to Kerala, with an average travel duration of 32 to 34 hours. This option works better for longer Kerala tours from Pune, and families often prefer trains due to luggage flexibility and ease of movement during the journey.

Best Time to Visit Kerala from Pune

Kerala can be visited year-round, but the right season depends on your travel style. Travellers booking a Kerala trip package from Pune should consider weather, crowd, and road conditions before choosing dates.

October to March: October to March is the most suitable period for Kerala packages from Pune focused on sightseeing. The weather stays drier, and temperatures remain comfortable for exploring Munnar, Alleppey, Kochi, and beach regions. October to February is also the preferred season for Kerala family trips, as comfortable weather makes long road journeys and full-day sightseeing more enjoyable for travellers of all age groups. Travel between destinations is usually smoother, though prices are higher during holidays.

April to June: April to June is warmer, especially in coastal areas. However, hill stations like Munnar remain cooler and are a good option for travellers avoiding peak crowds. Early morning sightseeing works better in this season.

July to September: July to September is the monsoon period. Rain can slow road travel, but landscapes look greener, and crowd levels drop. Many travellers still choose Kerala tours from Pune during these months for Ayurveda programmes and quieter stays.

If unsure, October to February offers the most balanced travel conditions.

Best Places to Visit in Kerala

From tea-covered hills to peaceful backwaters, Kerala packages from Pune cover destinations that offer very different experiences within a single trip. These are some of the best places in Kerala that most travellers include in their itinerary.

Munnar

Munnar is known for its rolling tea plantations, cool climate, waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints. Visitors usually spend two to three days exploring Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and local tea estates. The slower pace and pleasant weather make a Munnar trip one of the highlights of most Kerala tour packages from Pune.

Thekkady

Known for Periyar National Park and spice plantations, Thekkady trips bring together wildlife and nature. Boat safaris on Periyar Lake, guided spice plantation tours, and forest experiences make it a popular stop for travellers looking to add variety beyond hill stations and beaches.

Alleppey

Famous for its backwaters, an Alleppey tour offers a completely different side of Kerala. Staying overnight on a traditional houseboat allows travellers to experience village life, coconut groves, narrow canals, and local cuisine while cruising through the backwaters at a relaxed pace.

Kochi

Kochi combines history, culture, and modern city life. Most Kochi tour packages include attractions such as Fort Kochi, the Chinese Fishing Nets, Mattancherry Palace, Jew Town, and St. Francis Church, offering insight into Kerala's colonial past. Cafés, local markets, and the city's waterfront also make Kochi an enjoyable place to explore at a relaxed pace.

Varkala

In a Kerala trip from Pune, Varkala stands out for its dramatic cliffs overlooking the Arabian Sea. Most Varkala trips include attractions such as Varkala Cliff, Papanasam Beach, Janardanaswamy Temple, and the town's popular cafés, making it an ideal stop for a relaxed coastal holiday. Travellers visit for beach walks, cafés, sunsets, yoga centres, and a more laid-back coastal atmosphere compared to Kerala's busier beach towns.

Top Things to Do in Kerala

Beyond sightseeing, a Kerala trip from Pune becomes more memorable through experiences that showcase the state's landscapes, culture, and local traditions. Below are some of the best things to do in Kerala:

Stay Overnight on an Alleppey Houseboat

A houseboat cruise remains one of Kerala's signature experiences. Travellers spend the day cruising in an Alleppey houseboat through canals lined with coconut trees, watching village life unfold along the banks, before spending the night on the water with freshly prepared local meals.

Visit Tea Plantations in Munnar

Walking through tea estates, visiting tea museums, and stopping at scenic viewpoints are among the most popular activities in Munnar. The region's cool climate and mountain scenery make it one of the most photographed destinations in Kerala.

Explore Periyar National Park

Thekkady offers boat safaris across Periyar Lake, guided nature walks in Periyar National Park, bamboo rafting, and wildlife experiences. While wildlife sightings depend on the season, the surrounding forests themselves make the visit worthwhile.

Experience Kathakali and Kalaripayattu

Traditional Kathakali dance performances and Kalaripayattu martial arts demonstrations introduce travellers to Kerala's cultural heritage. These evening performances are available in Kochi and Munnar and are often added as optional experiences.

Visit Spice Plantations of Munnar

Kerala is famous for spices such as cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Guided plantation tours explain cultivation methods while allowing visitors to purchase authentic spices directly from local farms.

Enjoy an Ayurveda Wellness Session

Many travellers include an authentic Ayurveda massage or wellness therapy during their Kerala trip from Pune. Kerala's certified wellness centres offer treatments ranging from relaxing massages to multi-day rejuvenation programmes, particularly popular during the monsoon months.

Witness the Athirappilly Waterfalls

Often called the "Niagara of Kerala", Athirappilly Waterfalls is one of the state's most impressive natural attractions. Surrounded by dense forests, it is frequently included in longer itineraries and is especially popular during and after the monsoon season.

Best Kerala Holiday Packages from Pune

The duration of your holiday decides how much of Kerala you can comfortably cover. Short itineraries focus on the classic hill station and backwater circuit, while any longer Kerala trip package from Pune includes beaches, wildlife, heritage, and cultural experiences at a more relaxed pace.

  • Kerala Sadhya served on a banana leaf
  • Puttu and Kadala Curry
  • Idiyappam with vegetable curry

  • Banana chips and locally prepared desserts like Payasam

Travellers looking for familiar North Indian meals will also find restaurants across Kochi, Munnar, and Alleppey serving vegetarian thalis, Jain food on request, and Punjabi cuisine.

  • Saravana Bhavan (Kochi)

Starting from on-time pickup, comfortable car, clean rooms, itinerary execution everything I liked. We specifically asked for a homestay in Alleppey instead of a regular hotel and Thrillophilia found a family-run property right on the canal where the grandmother cooked breakfast every morning. That was not in any brochure but it became the memory we talk about most. Athirappilly falls with very few people since we reached early as suggested. Thekkady was rushed slightly but the rest of the trip had good breathing room. Anyways there is nothing much in Thekkady execpt for for spice plantations and boat safari hardly there is any chance of see... Read More

Mast trip zali! The houseboat experience in Alleppey was unlike anything we have back in Maharashtra, so serene and beautiful. Jignesh made sure we got a 3-bedroom villa for our group in Munnar, which worked out perfectly for our late-night catch-ups. Everything from the airport pickup to the island tours was well-timed and professional. If you are looking for a stress-free trip from Pune, these guys are definitely the best in the business.

Booked this Kerala package for my parents' 30th anniversary and they had a wonderful, comfortable time. They felt very safe throughout the journey, and the driver was particularly respectful and attentive to their needs as senior citizens. Thank you Sameer for the extra care in selecting hotels with elevator access and minimal walking. They came back with so many photos and happy memories of the backwaters and the tea gardens.
