How to Reach Kerala from Hyderabad

By Air: Taking a flight is the fastest and most convenient way to travel from Hyderabad to Kerala. Several direct flights operate daily from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) to major airports like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode. The average flight duration is around 1.5 to 2 hours, and airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air, and Vistara offer frequent services.

By Train: Regular trains connect Hyderabad with key Kerala cities including Kochi, Trivandrum, Alappuzha, and Kozhikode. Popular options include the Sabari Express and the Hyderabad-Kochuveli Express. The train journey takes roughly 20–24 hours, offering a comfortable yet scenic route through South India’s lush landscapes.

By Road: You can also drive or travel by bus from Hyderabad to Kerala. The distance of around 1,000–1,100 kilometres can be covered in 16–18 hours via NH44 and NH544. Several private and KSRTC Volvo buses also operate on this route, offering both sleeper and semi-sleeper options for overnight travel.

Best Time to Visit Kerala from Hyderabad

Peak Season (October to March): The cooler months from October to March are the peak tourist season in Kerala. During these months, the daytime temperatures range from 28°C to 32°C, and rainfall is minimal with clear skies and sunny days. The pleasant weather of this season makes it ideal for exploring the lush landscapes, backwaters, and famous Kerala cities like Alleppey, Trivandrum, Cochin, and Munnar. Festivals like Onam and Thrissur Pooram are also held in this season.

Shoulder Season (April to June): The daytime temperatures average between 30°C to 35°C, and you can expect occasional short spells of rain. Tourist crowds are fewer, and accommodation prices are also lower. Vishu is celebrated in April, and the festival is a good time to immerse oneself in the culture of Kerala. During this festive period, enjoy delicacies like Vishu Sadya, a lavish vegetarian meal served on a banana leaf, and traditional games like Vishu kani vili.

Waning Season (July to September): Kerala experiences heavy rainfall with frequent showers from July to September. The rains turn the Kerala landscapes into lush greenery. During this season, you can watch the famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race held in Alappuzha. Hotel prices fall steeply at this time, making it great for budget travellers and Ayurvedic retreats.

Chala bagundi trip, the Alleppey houseboat was so peaceful and the staff was very welcoming. Prasad from the team was very helpful with the planning and even suggested some great local spots for authentic food. The spicy Kerala dishes were a hit with us as they reminded us of home in Hyderabad. The vehicle provided was in great condition and the driver was very safe on the winding mountain roads. A memorable holiday for our whole family.

The drive to Munnar from Kochi was a bit long, but the waterfalls and tea estates on the way made for great photo stops. Our driver was very knowledgeable about the local culture and even took us to a hidden viewpoint. The rooms in Munnar were cozy and had a beautiful view of the valley. We really enjoyed the spice plantation tour in Thekkady. It was a well-organized trip with a good balance of activity and rest.

Great experience with the spice plantation tour where we learned about different types of herbs and their uses. The weather in Munnar was lovely and provided a nice escape from the Hyderabad heat. The stay in Thekkady was very comfortable and the resort had a lot of green space for the kids to play. Everything happened as per the itinerary and we were kept informed at every step. A very smooth and enjoyable vacation.
