By Road

Note: It is highly recommended to break this into a 2-day journey with an overnight stay at Malda or Siliguri to avoid any accidents. Moreover, the last 80 km from Guwahati to Shillong is entirely a hill climb. Ensure the person who would be driving has enough experience driving on winding hill climbs.  

Buses

Kolkata and Shillong (or any other major towns located throughout Meghalaya) are well connected by public transportation through the regular bus service. Both state-owned and privately owned buses offer service from Guwahati to Shillong; travel time from Guwahati to Shillong via bus is about 2 hours and 12 minutes.
