What is Included with Bhutan Tour Packages from Ahmedabad

What’s Included:

  • Stays at 3-star hotels
  • Daily breakfast included; lunch and dinner included only where stated in the itinerary
  • Local transfers via shared cabs
  • Sightseeing tours and guided experiences as mentioned in the itinerary
  • Activities like visiting Tiger’s Nest Monastery and an excursion to Phobjikha Valley, as per the itinerary
  • Customised itinerary and inclusions for selected packages, and a romantic candlelight dinner and activities for couples planning a Bhutan honeymoon package.

What’s Not Included:

  • Personal expenses
  • Meals not mentioned in the itinerary
  • Entrance fees for all sightseeing places
  • Travel insurance
  • Flight tickets
  • Extra excursions or sightseeing not included in the itinerary
  • Costs arising out of unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather

What Makes Prices Go Up or Down for Bhutan Trips

  • Your entry route: Flying directly to Paro costs more than travelling via Bagdogra and entering Bhutan by road through Phuentsholing. Your choice of route has one of the biggest impacts on the overall trip cost.
  • The valleys you include: A Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha itinerary is more affordable. Adding destinations like Phobjikha or Bumthang increases travel time, accommodation costs, and transport expenses.
  • Festival season: Prices are highest during major festivals such as Paro Tshechu (March-April) and Thimphu Tshechu (September). Hotels fill up quickly, flight fares increase, and premium properties are booked months in advance.
  • Monsoon and winter travel: The monsoon season from June to August can bring landslides and slower road travel in the mountains. This means fewer tourists and lower flight and hotel rates. Winter, from December to February, also sees lower hotel rates in many destinations.
  • Hotel category: Upgrading from standard 3-star hotels to boutique or luxury stays can significantly increase your package price. This is especially true in Paro and Punakha, where premium properties are limited.

How to Reach Bhutan

Apart from several routes, the easiest route to reach Bhutan is taking a flight from Ahmedabad to Paro.

Flight to Paro

Flying to Paro is the fastest and most convenient way to reach Bhutan from Ahmedabad. It works best for 5 to 7-day trips, family holidays, and travellers who want to minimise transit time. Although flights cost more, you save several hours and begin your trip directly on the Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha circuit.

The quickest route is a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Kolkata, followed by a connecting flight to Paro. Direct flights to Kolkata take around 2 hours 40 minutes, while the Kolkata to Paro flight takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.

The Bagdogra-Phuentsholing Land Route

If you're looking to reduce your overall trip cost, you can fly from Ahmedabad to Bagdogra and drive to Phuentsholing, Bhutan's border town. The direct flight takes around 2 hours 40 minutes, followed by a 3-hour 50-minute drive via NH27. This option is better suited to 6 to 8-day itineraries, as the road journey adds transit time.

The Right Route

Choose the Paro flight if you value convenience and have limited time. The Bagdogra route is a practical alternative if you are travelling on a tighter budget and don't mind spending more time on the road.

Visa/Permits for Bhutan Trip from Ahmedabad

  • Indian citizens do not require a visa to visit Bhutan.
  • An Entry Permit is mandatory for visiting Paro and Thimphu.
  • If your itinerary includes Phobjikha, Bumthang, or Trongsa, additional route permits are required.
  • The Entry Permit is free of charge and can be obtained on arrival or applied for in advance. Advance applications are usually processed within 1–3 working days.
  • Carry a passport with at least 6 months' validity or a Voter ID card, along with your travel documents.
  • With select Thrillophilia Bhutan tour packages from Ahmedabad, our team assists you with the permit process for a hassle-free experience.
  • Policy last verified: June 2026. Always check the latest requirements with the official Bhutan Department of Immigration before travelling.

Vegetarian and Food Guide for Indian Travellers in Bhutan

Bhutan's cuisine features comforting dishes like ema datshi (chilli and cheese), kewa datshi (potato and cheese), red rice, and seasonal vegetables, along with meat-based specialities.

Rekha Ganesan, one of our verified travellers from Ahmedabad, who booked Signature Bhutan Group Tour | Thimphu, Punakha & Paro Circuit, rated her experience 5 out of 5 and said, "The hospitality in the Phobjikha valley was exceptional; the local food was fresh and delicious. It was an amazing experience for our foodie group. The restaurant suggestions and local knowledge really enhanced our trip. I highly recommend their authentic experiences."

With Thrillophilia's Bhutan tour packages from Ahmedabad, vegetarian travellers don't have to worry about meal arrangements. Our packages include daily breakfast with vegetarian options, while lunch and dinner are provided as per the selected itinerary. If you have specific dietary requirements, including Jain meals, we recommend informing us at the time of booking so suitable arrangements can be made wherever possible.

If you would like to explore local flavours, we recommend Mountain Café, Champaca Café, and Sonam Trophel Restaurant in Paro for vegetarian Bhutanese and café-style meals.

In Thimphu, Ambient Café, Seasons Restaurant, and Zombala2 Restaurant are excellent choices for vegetarian, Italian, and Tibetan cuisine.

While vegetarian food is widely available in Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha, options are more limited in remote regions like Phobjikha and Bumthang, so advance requests are advisable.
