There are no direct flights between Rajkot and Bhutan, so you will need to fly to a metro city like Delhi or Kolkata and then take a flight to Paro for your journey.
Due to the India–Bhutan Friendship Treaty, Indian citizens don’t need a visa to enter Bhutan. All you need is a passport valid for at least six months or a voter ID, and you will get an entry permit upon arrival at Paro Airport or at land checkpoints like Phuentsholing.
When you book through licensed tour operators like Thrillophilia it gets easier to get the permits. You also get help with paying the mandatory Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which is INR 1,200 per person per night.
With the entry permit, you can stay and travel around Bhutan for a week. For a longer stay, just apply for an extended permit at the Immigration Office in Thimphu.
Bhutan is beautiful all year round, but the best time to visit depends on what kind of trip you are looking for.
Spring (March to May): With temperatures ranging from 12 to 22 degrees Celsius, spring is one of the most popular seasons. The valleys are full of rhododendrons and magnolias, and you can enjoy pleasant treks like the Druk Path and Jomolhari. This is also the season when you can see the colourful celebrations of Paro Tshechu and Punakha Tshechu.
Summer (June to August): As temperatures go from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius and rainfall becomes frequent, you will see lush greenery all around. This leads to fewer crowds, so you can comfortably relax in peaceful homestays or attend the Haa Summer Festival.
Autumn (September to November): Clear skies, crisp air, and temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius make this the perfect time for high-altitude treks, photography, and sightseeing. You can also attend the beautiful Thimphu Tsechu for three days between September and October.
Winter (December to February): Temperatures go anywhere between 0 and 15 degrees Celsius, especially in higher areas, making them covered in snow. The snowy Himalayas look stunning, and it’s a great time to attend the vibrant Trongsa Tshechu and visit Phobjikha Valley to spot black-necked cranes.

4. Phobjikha Valley: You can see Himalayan black bears, leopards, and the Gangtey Monastery all through the year, and the rare black-necked cranes here in winter.
5. Haa Valley: A hidden gem, Haa Valley is where you can enjoy peaceful treks like Jo Bay Tsho and Sagala away from the crowds.
