Traveller Insight: Spend at least three nights in Tokyo and explore one neighbourhood at a time instead of trying to cover the entire city.

Top Experiences:

  • Walk through Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
  • Visit Fushimi Inari Taisha
  • Experience traditional tea houses

Top Experiences:

  • Try ramen, sushi, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki
  • Sample convenience store snacks and bentos

Vegetarian Food Guide for Kolkata to Japan Tour Package

Finding vegetarian food in Japan has become much easier, especially in major cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. Many restaurants now serve vegetarian or vegan meals, and Indian restaurants are widely available in popular tourist areas.

Some vegetarian dishes you can try include vegetable tempura, vegetarian sushi, tofu dishes, soba noodles, and Japanese curry made without meat. However, some dishes may contain fish-based stock (dashi), even if they do not contain visible meat.

If you follow a strict vegetarian diet, it is helpful to check with restaurant staff before ordering. Carrying a food preference card in Japanese can also make communication easier during your trip.

Useful Travel Tips for Your Japan Tour from Kolkata

  • Carry some cash, as smaller restaurants and local shops may not accept international cards.
  • Purchase an IC card like Suica or PASMO for convenient travel on buses, trains, and metros.
  • Arrive at train stations a little early, as trains in Japan are known for their punctuality.
  • Pack comfortable walking shoes since sightseeing often involves a lot of walking.
  • Keep your passport with you, as it may be required for tax-free shopping.
  • Download offline maps or use Google Maps to navigate public transport easily.
  • If you're travelling during the cherry blossom or autumn season, book flights and hotels several months in advance.
  • Respect local customs by keeping noise levels low on public transport and following queue systems.

Why Book Japan Tour Packages From Kolkata with Thrillophilia?

Planning a multi-city holiday in Japan involves managing transport, hotels, sightseeing schedules, and visa formalities. Thrillophilia simplifies the process with carefully planned itineraries designed by destination experts.

With Japan tour packages from Kolkata, you receive assistance with visa guidance, handpicked accommodations, selected sightseeing experiences, airport transfers, and dedicated support throughout your journey. Whether you're planning your first visit, a honeymoon, or a family holiday, you can choose from a wide range of itineraries that suit different travel styles and budgets.

Travellers who book Japan tour packages from Kolkata often appreciate the convenience of having hotels, sightseeing, airport transfers, and intercity travel planned in advance. Many also highlight the smooth visa guidance, knowledgeable local guides, and well-balanced itineraries that cover iconic destinations like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Mount Fuji. Families, couples, and first-time visitors frequently mention that having local support throughout the trip makes travelling across Japan much easier and more enjoyable.

Common Mistakes to Avoid While Planning Your Japan Trip

Many first-time travellers try to visit too many cities in a short time, leaving very little opportunity to enjoy each destination. Focusing on fewer places usually makes the journey more comfortable and enjoyable.

Another common mistake is waiting until the last minute to book flights and hotels, especially during the cherry blossom and autumn seasons when prices increase quickly and availability becomes limited.

Travellers also often underestimate the amount of walking involved while exploring Japanese cities. Comfortable footwear can make a big difference during your trip.

If you follow a vegetarian diet, avoid assuming every vegetarian-looking dish is completely meat-free, as many Japanese recipes use fish stock. It's always worth confirming the ingredients before ordering.

Finally, keep some flexibility in your itinerary. Weather conditions around Mount Fuji can change quickly, and visibility is never guaranteed, so spending a night in Hakone or Lake Kawaguchiko improves your chances of enjoying clear views.

Festivals and Events in Japan

Japan hosts vibrant festivals throughout the year, making every season unique for travellers.

  • Cherry Blossom Festivals (March-April): Parks across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka come alive with blooming sakura trees and traditional hanami picnics.
  • Golden Week (Late April-Early May): One of Japan's busiest holiday periods, featuring festivals, cultural events, and increased domestic travel.
  • Gion Matsuri (July): Kyoto's famous month-long festival is known for its grand processions, traditional floats, and cultural performances.
  • Aomori Nebuta Festival (August): Watch enormous illuminated floats parade through the streets alongside energetic music and dancers.
  • Autumn Leaf Festivals (October-November): Temples, gardens, and parks across Kyoto, Nikko, and Hakone showcase stunning red and golden autumn colours.
  • Sapporo Snow Festival (February): One of Japan's most popular winter events, featuring impressive snow sculptures, ice displays, and winter activities.

We booked the Japan trip through Thrillophilia and it was one of the most memorable trips we have taken. The planning was thorough from the very start. Our agent helped us understand the Japan Rail Pass options and what made sense for our itinerary before we even confirmed the booking. Once we were there, every transfer and hotel check-in was exactly as communicated. The local guides at Kyoto temples and Hiroshima were knowledgeable and spoke good English. One very useful thing Thrillophilia did was share a list of vegetarian and Indian-friendly restaurants at each city before we departed. That kind of small detail makes a big difference. The... April timing for Japan meant the cherry blossoms were at their peak in Kyoto when we arrived. Arashiyama bamboo forest at 6am before the crowds had a completely different quality of silence. Fushimi Inari gates at dusk. Osaka street food on the last two evenings. The bullet train between cities. Thrillophilia had pre-arranged vegetarian meal options at hotels in each city which is genuinely difficult to manage in Japan without local contacts. The day-wise voucher booklet they provided meant we never had to call anyone for confirmation during the trip.
