Best Time for a Thailand Tour Package from India

About Image: Soumya Sharma and friends added a splash of adventure to their Thailand trip. Surrounded by turquoise waters and great company, they created memories that will last a lifetime.

Saying summer is the best time to visit Thailand is not accurate. India's summer (April-June) is actually Thailand's hottest period and the beginning of the monsoon season. Here is a month-by-month guide for Indian travellers planning a Thailand trip from India.

1. Cool and Dry Season: Peak Time (November to February)

  • Weather: 25-32Β°C, low humidity
  • Best for: Beaches, island hopping, sightseeing, outdoor activities; Tomorrowland Asia expected in December 2026
  • Not ideal for: Budget travel (Thailand package prices are at their highest)

2. Hot Season (March to May)

  • Weather: 33-42Β°C, high humidity
  • Best for: Songkran Festival in April; great energy across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket
  • Not ideal for: Beach time in peak afternoon heat; temple visits after 10 AM

3. Monsoon / Green Season (May to October)

  • Weather: 28-35Β°C, frequent rain
  • Best for: Budget-friendly Thailand packages from India; waterfalls, greenery, and fewer crowds
  • Not ideal for: Phuket and Krabi (rough seas, limited island tours); Koh Samui (heavy rain from October-December)

4. For Indian Travellers: Specific Guidance

  • December-January: Best weather, peak season; book 3–4 months in advance
  • April: Very hot but popular due to Songkran; great for Bangkok and Chiang Mai
  • May-June: Budget-friendly Thailand packages available; island travel may be affected in Phuket and Krabi
  • October: Good value, improved weather in Bangkok and Chiang Mai; Koh Samui still rainy

5. Important Notes:

  • Phuket and Krabi: Expect rain and rough seas from May to October.
  • Koh Samui: Avoid October–December (separate rainy season from the Andaman coast).
  • Bangkok: April heat can exceed 40Β°C, making daytime sightseeing difficult.

Note: These recommendations are based on historical weather patterns, ferry operating schedules, traveller feedback, and seasonal booking trends observed across Thailand destinations.

Festivals in Thailand - A Special Section

About Image: Soumya Sharma and friends experienced the vibrant cultural side of Thailand during their trip. Dressed in beautiful traditional attire, they embraced the local traditions and created memories that made their journey even more special.

Thailand's festival calendar is one of the richest in Southeast Asia, and planning your Thailand tour package around a major event can completely transform the experience.

1. Songkran: Thai New Year Water Festival (April 13-15)

Songkran is Thailand's most iconic national celebration and one of the world's largest water festivals. Held every year from April 13 to 15, with the water fights running from 9 AM to 6 PM across three days. The entire country participates, streets fill with water guns, buckets, and hoses, and the mood is genuinely joyful. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket all host major Songkran events.

SIAM Songkran 2026 in Bangkok elevates this further into a music festival experience, with internationally known artists like Martin Garrix and Marshmello performing across multiple stages while the water celebrations happen simultaneously around the city.

2. Yee Peng Lantern Festival (November, Chiang Mai)

One of the most visually beautiful events on any Thailand travel package. Thousands of paper lanterns are released into the night sky over two days in Chiang Mai, usually in November. The sight of lanterns rising over the Ping River is unforgettable. Best for: Couples, photographers, and cultural travellers.

3. Phuket Vegetarian Festival (9 Days in October)

A unique 9-day festival rooted in Chinese Taoist traditions, held every October in Phuket. It is most well-known for its street processions featuring participants in deep meditative states performing acts of devotion. During this period, yellow-flag vegetarian (Jay) stalls are set up all over the city, making it one of the best times for vegetarian Indian travellers on a Thailand trip.

4. Tomorrowland Asia 2026 (December, Thailand)

One of the most anticipated events of 2026 for music lovers. Tomorrowland, the world-famous Belgian electronic music festival, is making its Asian debut in Thailand in December 2026, expected to be held in Pattaya. It will feature international artists across multiple stages, drawing large crowds of international and Indian travellers. Book your Thailand tour package well in advance if you plan to attend.

5. Pattaya Music Festival and International Kite Festival

An annual event along Pattaya's beachfront featuring live music across multiple stages and colourful kite displays. The 2026 edition is expected to feature multiple beachside stages and a strong artist lineup.

6. Bun Bang Fai, Rocket Festival (May, Yasothon)

A northeastern Thai tradition where locals launch handmade bamboo rockets to call for rain before the planting season. One of the most entertaining and uniquely Thai festivals for travellers who want to go off the beaten track.

7. River Pride of Bangkok (November)

Bangkok's Pride celebration is combined with Loy Krathong festivities near the Chao Phraya River in November. A growing event that draws both local and international visitors.

Must-Visit Places and Experiences on a Thailand Tour

About Image: Sumitha Jayin and family chose our Treasures of Thailand package for an incredible 8 Days & 7 Nights journey through Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok.

Thailand tour packages cover a wide range of destinations, each offering a completely different experience. Here is what each major stop brings to your Thailand trip.

1. Bangkok: The Capital

Bangkok is where most Thailand tours begin, a high-energy mix of temples, markets, river life, and modern entertainment. The Grand Palace and Wat Pho are the non-negotiable sightseeing stops, while Chatuchak Weekend Market and Pratunam offer some of the best shopping on any Thailand trip from India.

Top places to visit:

  • The Grand Palace: Royal complex with detailed Thai architecture
  • Wat Pho: Home to the 46-metre Reclining Buddha and a traditional Thai massage school
  • Chatuchak Weekend Market: One of the largest markets in Asia
  • Safari World: Open zoo with animal shows
  • Pratunam Market: Budget shopping for clothes and accessories

Insider Tip: The Grand Palace can shut without notice for royal events. Go to Wat Pho first (same area, different entry, usually open).

2. Phuket: The Andaman Island

Phuket is the most popular beach destination on any Thailand vacation package from India. It is also the main base for Phi Phi Island day trips, James Bond Island excursions in Phang Nga Bay, and water sports at Patong Beach.

Top places to visit:

  • Patong Beach: Water sports and nightlife hub
  • Big Buddha: Hilltop statue with panoramic island views
  • Old Phuket Town: Colourful Sino-Portuguese streets and cafes
  • Wat Chalong: One of Phuket's most important temples
  • Phi Phi Islands: Top day-trip destination for snorkelling and swimming

Insider Tip: Phi Phi Island tours leave early at 7-8 AM. Book a speedboat tour over a ferry to save time and avoid heavy crowds.

3. Pattaya: Coastal City

Pattaya is a short drive from Bangkok and brings a very different energy to your Thailand trip with beaches, cultural shows, theme parks, and a lively nightlife. It pairs well with Bangkok on 5-day Thailand packages.

Top places to visit:

  • Sanctuary of Truth: An entirely hand-carved wooden temple
  • Walking Street: The main nightlife and entertainment strip
  • Coral Island (Koh Larn): Crystal-clear water and water sports
  • Nong Nooch Garden: Landscaped gardens with cultural shows
  • Pattaya Beach: Easy-access beach for casual activities

Insider Tip: Stay near Jomtien Beach instead of central Pattaya for a quieter environment with better hotel options.

4. Krabi: Limestone Cliffs and Islands

Krabi is quieter than Phuket and ideal for travellers who want dramatic scenery along with their beach time. It is a highlight of most 7-day and 9-day Thailand tour packages from India.

Top places to visit:

  • Railay Beach: Surrounded by limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat
  • Tiger Cave Temple: Approximately 1,260 steps leading to a panoramic summit view of Krabi.
  • Emerald Pool: A natural turquoise spring in the Khao Nor Chu Chi Forest
  • Phi Phi Islands: Accessible as a day trip from Krabi as well
  • Ao Thalane: Kayaking through mangrove channels

Insider Tip: Climb Tiger Cave Temple early in the morning to avoid both the heat and the crowds.

5. Chiang Mai: The North

Chiang Mai is a natural add-on for 10-day Thailand tour packages from India. Its focus on temples, nature, and traditional culture provides a complete contrast to Bangkok and the southern beaches.

Top places to visit:

  • Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: Temple on a forested hill overlooking the city
  • Doi Inthanon National Park: Thailand's highest peak
  • Night Bazaar: Evening market for food, crafts, and shopping
  • Wat Chedi Luang: Historic temple ruins in the Old City
  • Bua Thong Waterfalls: Sticky limestone waterfall you can climb

Insider Tip: Doi Inthanon is 2 hours from Chiang Mai, and temperatures can drop to 10-15Β°C. Carry a light jacket even during the summer months.

6. Koh Samui: Gulf Islands

Koh Samui is a popular extension for Thailand holiday packages, offering a slower resort pace on the Gulf of Thailand side, along with easy access to Koh Phangan and Ang Thong Marine Park.

Top places to visit:

  • Chaweng Beach: Main beach strip with hotels and restaurants
  • Big Buddha Temple: 12-metre seated statue near the coast
  • Ang Thong Marine Park: a 42-island national park for kayaking and viewpoints
  • Na Muang Waterfalls: Easy nature walk accessible from the main road
  • Koh Phangan: Famous for its Full Moon Party

Insider Tip: October to December is the rainy season for Koh Samui, unlike Phuket. Always check the weather before booking a Samui-focused Thailand tour package.

7. Ayutthaya: Ancient Capital

Ayutthaya is the easiest historical day trip from Bangkok on any Thailand travel package. Its UNESCO-listed ruins offer a rare look into the golden age of the ancient Siamese kingdom.

Top places to visit:

  • Wat Mahathat: Famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots
  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet: Former royal temple within the palace compound
  • Ayutthaya Historical Park: Over 400 temples across the island city
  • Chao Sam Phraya Museum: Artifacts from the Ayutthaya period
  • Bang Pa-In Palace: Summer palace featuring mixed European and Thai architecture

Insider Tip: Ayutthaya is 90 minutes from Bangkok by train (INR 150-INR 300). It makes for an easy day trip with no need to stay overnight.

Famous Food to Try on Your Thailand Trip

About Image: Ishita Sen enjoyed the rich flavors of Thailand during her getaway. From authentic Thai dishes to delightful dining experiences, every meal added a special touch to her memorable journey.

Thailand's street food culture is one of the most distinctive in the world. Here is what to eat on your Thailand tour, with notes for Indian vegetarian travellers.

1. Pad Thai

Stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, tofu or shrimp, tamarind sauce, lime, and peanuts. The definitive street food of any Thailand trip. Vegetarian note: Ask for "Jay Pad Thai" or the tofu version without fish sauce. Where to try: Street stalls in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.

2. Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)

Hot and sour broth with shrimp, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chilli, and galangal. Vegetarian note: Non-vegetarian (shrimp-based). Where to try: Local restaurants in Bangkok, Krabi, and Koh Samui.

3. Gaeng Keow Wan (Green Curry)

Coconut-based curry with green curry paste, vegetables, and your choice of meat or tofu. Vegetarian note: Ask for the tofu version and no fish sauce. Where to try: Restaurants in Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya.

4. Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad)

Fresh shredded green papaya with tomatoes, peanuts, chilli, and a tangy lime dressing. Vegetarian note: Ask for "Jay Som Tum." Where to try: Local markets across Thailand, especially in Bangkok.

5. Khao Niew Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice)

Sweet sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut milk β€” fully vegetarian and one of the best desserts in Southeast Asia. Where to try: Street stalls across Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai.

Vegetarian Food in Thailand: The Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ) System

  • Thailand has a dedicated vegetarian food system called Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ), identifiable by yellow flags or signs displayed at food stalls and restaurants across the country.
  • Jay food is stricter than standard vegetarian, it contains no meat, no fish sauce, and no eggs.
  • The easiest places to find Jay food are Bangkok's Chinatown (Yaowarat) and areas near temples across Thailand.
  • During the 9-day Jay Festival in October, yellow-flag stalls are set up city-wide, making it one of the best times for vegetarian Indian travellers visiting Thailand on a package tour.

India-Specific Thailand Planning Guide

Before booking a Thailand tour package, it is useful to know a few practical travel tips that can make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

Currency: Thailand uses the Thai Baht (THB), with 1 THB approximately equal to INR 2.5 (as of April 2026). While cards are accepted in most malls, hotels, and restaurants, carrying cash is recommended for local markets and street vendors. Many travellers prefer using Superrich exchange counters in Bangkok for competitive exchange rates.

SIM Card: Tourist SIM cards from AIS and DTAC are available at Bangkok and Phuket airports. A 7-day unlimited data package generally starts from around INR 500, making it significantly cheaper than international roaming plans from Indian operators.

Tourist Entry Fee: Thailand has proposed a tourist entry fee of 300 THB (approximately INR 740), but it has not been implemented as of June 2026. Therefore, this fee is generally not included in any Thailand tour package.

Vegetarian Food: Vegetarian travellers can easily find food by looking for the yellow Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ) signs, which indicate vegetarian and vegan restaurants. These eateries are especially common near temples and in Bangkok’s Chinatown.

Indian Restaurants: Authentic Indian food is widely available across Thailand. Popular areas include Sukhumvit Soi 3 in Bangkok, Nimman Road in Chiang Mai, and Patong Beach in Phuket.

Language: Thai is the official language, but English is commonly spoken in major tourist destinations. Learning a few simple phrases, such as "Sawasdee" (Hello) and "Khop Khun" (Thank You) can be helpful during your trip.

Visa for Indians: One of the biggest advantages of booking a Thailand tour package is the visa-free entry facility for Indian travellers. As of June 2026, Indian passport holders can enjoy visa-free entry for tourism purposes for stays of up to 30–60 days, subject to government regulations and future updates.

Royal Family Laws: Thailand has strict laws protecting its royal family. Travellers should avoid making negative comments or jokes about the monarchy in public spaces or on social media, as violations can lead to serious legal consequences.

Practical Tips for a Seamless Thailand Tour

  • Plan your Thailand tour package between November and February for the best weather (25-32Β°C) and calm seas
  • Arrive at the Grand Palace by 9 AM to get ahead of crowds and the midday heat
  • Book Thailand packages from India with flights at least 4-6 weeks in advance; December-January seats fill up fast
  • Avoid driving inside Bangkok's old areas; tuk-tuks, the BTS Skytrain, and the MRT metro are far more efficient
  • Book the Phi Phi Island speedboat tour in advance from your Thailand travel package; slots fill quickly in peak season
  • For Chiang Mai trips, carry a light jacket even in summer, evenings can drop to 10-15Β°C between November and February
  • Temple dress code is strictly enforced; shoulders and knees must be covered, and carry a light scarf
  • Remove shoes before entering temples and many local shops; slip-ons make this much easier
  • Avoid touching anyone's head or pointing feet toward religious objects, monks, or Buddha images
  • Possession of e-cigarettes or illegal drugs carries severe penalties, including imprisonment, these laws are actively enforced on tourists

Which Thrillophilia Thailand Tour Package is Right for You?

About Image: Haritha Wickramasinghe and family enjoyed a fun-filled day at Siam Amazing Park in Bangkok. Surrounded by exciting attractions and beautiful surroundings, this special outing added even more wonderful memories to their Thailand adventure.

1. For Couples and Honeymooners:

Thailand honeymoon packages from Thrillophilia are built around private activities, romantic dinners, beach stays, sunset cruises, and quiet island time. Phuket and Krabi deliver the most scenic backdrops for couples, while Bangkok offers candlelit rooftop dining and cultural experiences together.

2. For Families and Friends:

Thailand packages for families include something for every age group β€” temple visits, water parks like Andamanda in Phuket, Ripley's Believe It or Not in Pattaya, Safari World in Bangkok, and island excursions. Itineraries balance walking zones with vehicle access to avoid fatigue.

3. For Solo Travellers:

Solo Thailand trip packages from Thrillophilia are suited to those seeking a mix of adventure, culture, and food. Thailand's metro systems, tuk-tuks, and budget transport make it one of the easiest countries for solo exploration.

4. For Group Tours:

Thailand group tour packages work well for families, friend circles, and colleague groups. These tours offer shared sightseeing, group activities, and cultural experiences at a more accessible price per person than private packages.

5. For First-Time International Travellers from India:

Thailand is consistently recommended as the ideal first international trip for Indian travellers, 30-day visa-free entry, widely spoken English, Indian restaurants in every major city, Jay vegetarian food near all tourist areas, and a smooth currency exchange process. A Thailand tour package from India for a first-timer is low-stress and well-supported.

Why Choose Thrillophilia for Your Thailand Tour from India?

About Image: Imtiaz enjoyed the beauty of Thailand with our Thailand Islands & City Highlights package. From scenic spots to peaceful moments like this, their 9 Days & 8 Nights trip was full of wonderful memories.

With a 4.8 rating by 26,000 happy customers from over 70+ countries, Thrillophilia continues to simplify complex tour planning, improve lead management, and create personalised, reliable travel itineraries for Thailand, one of the world's most visited destinations. But this is not the only reason to choose us for your Thailand tour, the other reasons are:

  • 100+ Expert-Curated Thailand Packages: Our Thailand tour packages from India are built based on how Indian travellers actually travel, preferred cities, pace, food choices, and budget. Every Thailand trip package is planned with local inputs, keeping island transfers, weather, and intercity travel time in mind so you don't face last-minute issues.
  • Intelligent Product Combinations: All Thrillophilia Thailand tours are designed to maximise your time. We include a city tour on your arrival day, giving you a bonus experience built into the itinerary at no extra cost.
  • Verified Local Operators and Partnerships: All guides, drivers, and activity partners in Thailand are verified across Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, and Pattaya. Whether it's airport transfers, island tours, or cultural experiences, everything is handled by trusted operators.
  • Transparent Pricing: Before booking any Thailand travel package, you get a clear breakdown of what is included, hotels, transfers, activities, and meals. No last-minute surprises.
  • 24/7 On-trip Assistance: From flight delays to last-minute changes, our team is available throughout your Thailand tour. You get continuous support and local coordination across all cities on your itinerary.

Safety Advisory for Thailand

  • Evenings in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Pai, Chiang Rai) drop to 10-15Β°C between November and February, carry a light jacket
  • Coastal areas (Phuket, Krabi, Pattaya) can have strong evening winds in the cool season; carry a light layer for sunset boat rides
  • Helmets are mandatory by law for scooter riders in Thailand. Police issue on-the-spot fines to tourists. An International Driving Permit is required, an Indian licence alone is not sufficient
  • Electricity outages occur on islands like Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Lanta during storms, carry a power bank
  • Thailand enforces strict laws against possession of e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and all illegal drugs, including confiscation, heavy fines, and imprisonment

An Unforgettable First International Trip! Highly Recommended. We recently booked our very first international vacation through Thrillophilia, and it was an absolutely amazing experience for me, my wife, and my son. Planning a first trip abroad can feel overwhelming, but Thrillophilia made it entirely seamless and stress-free. The itineraries provided were top-notch and perfectly curated for a family. What truly set this experience apart was their exceptional on-ground staff support in a foreign country. We felt completely safe and taken care of at every step. A special, heartfelt shoutout to Rohan, who was our guiding light throughout the... Read More

Thailand Tour faqs

Which is the cheapest time to visit Thailand?

The shoulder seasons, April to May and September to October, offer Thailand trip costs that are 40-60% lower than peak season. April is very hot and monsoon begins in May for the Andaman coast, but Bangkok and Chiang Mai remain good through the monsoon months. October is a particularly good sweet spot for budget-conscious travellers.

What is Tomorrowland Asia 2026 in Thailand?

Tomorrowland Asia 2026 marks the Asian debut of the world-famous Belgian electronic music festival. Reports suggest it is expected to take place in December 2026 in Thailand, likely in Pattaya, featuring international artists across multiple stages. For music lovers, combining this event with a Thailand tour package offers one of the most unique travel experiences of the year.

Is Thailand vegetarian-friendly for Indian travellers?

Yes. The Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ) food system, marked by yellow flags, offers strictly plant-based food with no meat, fish sauce, or eggs. It is widely available near temples, in Bangkok's Chinatown, and across all major tourist areas. During the October Jay Festival, yellow-flag stalls appear throughout the country, making it one of the most convenient times for vegetarian Indian travellers on a Thailand trip.

What common scams should Indian tourists watch out for in Thailand?

The most frequent ones to know: taxi drivers in Bangkok often refuse to turn on the meter for tourists, demanding a flat rate that is 3 times the normal price. Always ask "Meter?" before getting in, or simply use Grab or Bolt. Another widely reported one is the "temple closed today" trick, where a friendly stranger tells you a major attraction is shut and offers to take you somewhere else by tuk-tuk, leading you to gem shops or overpriced stores. ATM skimming devices have been reported at standalone ATMs in tourist areas, so use ATMs inside banks or shopping malls where possible.

How do I get around between cities and islands in Thailand?

For inter-city travel, budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air are the fastest and most practical option. Book flights from Bangkok to Phuket or Bangkok to Krabi 3 to 4 weeks ahead for the best fares. For island hopping to places like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, or Phi Phi, ferries are the standard mode and budget at least half a day for transfers. Within cities, Grab is reliable, metered, and safe. When using regular taxis in Bangkok, always confirm the meter is running before the journey begins, as drivers in tourist areas frequently quote inflated flat rates.

Is there any safety concern for specific regions in Thailand?

The popular tourist destinations are safe. Bangkok's BTS Skytrain is widely used and reliable, and popular tourist areas like Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya are considered safe for tourists. However, government advisories from several countries currently rate Thailand as a place where travellers should exercise increased caution, largely because of periodic unrest in some southern provinces and along sections of the Thailand-Cambodia border. These areas are not on any standard tourist itinerary, so as long as you are sticking to the usual destinations, there is no cause for concern. Save the Tourist Police number 1155 in your phone as a precaution.

How many days are enough for a Thailand tour?

For a first-time Thailand tour from India, 7 to 10 days is the ideal duration. A 7-day Thailand trip package typically covers Bangkok and one beach destination (Phuket or Krabi) comfortably. Add Pattaya for a city-beach combination, or Chiang Mai for a northern cultural experience. 10 to 12 days allows you to cover all major regions without rushing any stop.

When should I book a Thailand trip to get the best price and availability?

Indian school holidays, Diwali, Christmas and New Year, and Holi line up almost exactly with Thailand's peak tourist window. Hotels in Phuket and Pattaya during 25 December to 5 January need to be confirmed 8 to 10 weeks in advance. Past that window, you are paying 40 to 60 percent more or taking whatever is left. For peak season December 2026 travel, bookings should ideally be locked by mid-October. For shoulder or off-season travel, 3 to 4 weeks in advance is generally sufficient.

Can I use UPI or Indian cards in Thailand?

Carry an international Visa or Mastercard for hotels, malls, and restaurants, and keep Thai Baht cash for markets, street food, tuk-tuks, and ferries. Exchange currency at Superrich counters in Bangkok for the best rates; avoid hotel counters.

What are the most common hidden costs in a Thailand trip package?

Island tours to Phi Phi or James Bond Island typically cost INR 2,000–INR 4,000 extra per person. Travel insurance (INR 1,500-INR 3,000), a tourist SIM card (INR 500), and tips for guides and drivers all add up. Keep a buffer of INR 5,000-INR 10,000 over your package cost for personal expenses.
