Best Time To Visit Sarchu

Sarchu is a destination you can visit any time of year. Pick from the 3 main travel times - The peak season, the shoulder season, and the waning season. Thrillophilia ensures a seamless experience to all the tourists visiting Sarchu at any time of the year.

1. Peak season - If you’ve booked your Sarchu tour packages for Peak Season (June to October), you'll notice that the snow has melted. You can expect temperatures between the range of 5 to 15 degrees. You can also go for overnight camp stays under the starry skies, and enjoy the views on the Zanskar trek.

2. Shoulder season- You can also plan your trip to Sarchu between the months of July and September (Shoulder Season). The region usually doesn't experience a lot of rainfall. That being said, you'll be able to cover most of the attractions like Bhaga River, Phugtal Gompa, and more. You can expect temperatures to range between 15 to 25 degrees.

3. Waning season- Despite the extremely cold temperatures, many travelers book their Sarchu tour packages for October (Waing Season). During this season, you'll observe lesser tourists. You may find just a few services available around the region, so we'd recommend that you carry food and water with you at all times. Enjoy a Jeep Safari and admire the scenic views of the snow-covered Himalayas. We'd recommend staying updated with the weather forecasts to avoid any troubles while on the road.

Sarchu Tour faqs

Why is Sarchu so famous?

Sarchu is famous among tourists for the wide range of experiences that it provides. You can admire the amazing views of the landscapes at a height of more than 14,000 feet. You have the option to head out for a trekking expedition at the Zanskar Range. Likewise, Motorcycling or Jeep Safaris are also offered at Baralacha La. You can even enjoy an overnight stay at a campsite that offers beautiful views of starry skies.

How much does a Sarchu trip cost?

Ideally, The cost for a person for a night at a campsite in Sarchu is roughly between INR 1500/- and 5000/-. However, the actual cost may vary depending on the amenities desired at the campsite. It also depends upon the location of the camp and the views that it offers.

What is the best time to take the Nakee La tour?

You can visit Nakee La at any time of the year. Usually, most of the tourists prefer going to Nakee La during summer (between June and September). You can comfortably navigate through the pass during these months. However, we'd recommend avoiding a visit to Nakeela during winters, as you may experience heavy snowfall and road blockages.

How many days are enough for a Sarchu tour?

Generally, 1-2 days are more than enough for Sarchu tour packages. You can take a halt at Sarchu during your drive from Manali to Leh or vice-versa. At Sarchu, you can explore the Phugtal Gompa, which was built in the 12th century. You can also enjoy a thrilling river rafting experience in the Bhaga River.

Do we need a permit to enter Sarchu?

If you're traveling to Sarchu, you must get an Inner Line Permit (ILP). It is a tour pass given by the authorities for a limited time. You'll be able to get access to travel the regions covered within the pass for the time specified.
