    • You can take a flight to the Cochin or Madurai airport and take a bus from there. You can also reach Periyar by train and get down at the Kottayam railway station.

You must try the pepper omelette when you visit this reserve. Banana chips are staple snacks in this area and a must buy. Most of the food is served on the banana leaves. Restaurants also serve meat and sea food. There is a bar attached to most of the restaurants. You can have continental, south Indian, Chinese, and authentic Kerala cuisine at most of these restaurants.
