    Darjeeling Rangit Valley Ropeway

The ropeway was started in 1968 by the forest development department and comprised of one car running one way. 16 cars running to and fro were introduced later. The Darjeeling Ropeway connects Darjeeling with Bijanbari, a small town down in the little Rangeet Valley.

This is one of the best place for trekking in India, which runs close to The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. From an elevation of 7,000 ft in Darjeeling North Point, a bicable passenger ropeway, decends to 800 ft. at Singla carrying 6 people at a time.

The 4,620 mts span is the biggest and longest ropeway in India. This ride becomes enjoyable as on views lush green tea gardens, which appear as a green carpet covering the landscape. This bicable passenger-carrying ropeway is the largest of its kind in Asia.

Everest Singalila Trek and Khangchendzonga Trek are two other exciting treks possible in Darjeeling, which attracts many tourists around the year.
