The museum is unique amongst the various places to go in reading owing to its large collection of more than 3,000 objects and substantial archives belonging to Egyptian, Etruscan and Roman items. The highlighted exhibit of the museum is its important collections of ancient Greek pottery in the United Kingdom. The artefacts at display from these different listed civilizations are prehistoric pottery, metal and stone artefacts, collection of Egyptian antiquities, and much more.

Much of the work in the classics of the museum has been a hard work of research of its founders Annie and Percy Ure who had collected all the archeological finds personally based on their own research.
