Belvoir Castle Overview

Belvoir Castle is steeped in history and has lived through nationalistic power struggles and invasions. The Dukes of Rutland lived in this eleventh-century Castle for more than a thousand years. It is adorned with opulent decoration, priceless artwork, and quirky corridors and offers the most magnificent views.

Crowning a hill in Leicestershire, Belvoir Castle is the finest Regency castle in the United Kingdom. The Castle's towers and turrets beautifully rise over the Vale of Belvoir and seem like an illustration in a fairytale. From the North Terrace of the Castle, you can see miles over Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire counties. And on a clear day, you can even see Lincoln Cathedral, some 30 miles to the North East.

Its formal gardens and grounds feature beautiful statues by Caius Gabriel Cibber and have over two hundred and fifty specimen camellias and plenty of wildlife. Belvoir Castle also hosts various events throughout the year, such as the Festival of the Horse, live open-air music concerts, Duchess Days, and much more. You can enjoy afternoon tea in The Aviary Tearoom and devour the finest selection of locally sourced drinks and food at The Engine Yard.
