Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka from India

The southwest monsoon brings heavy rainfall to the west and south coasts between May and September, while the northeast monsoon affects the north and east coasts between October and January.

Visa Requirements for a Sri Lanka Tour From India

Indian passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. The ETA serves as an e-visa. You can easily apply for the same online at eta.gov.lk, and the process takes just a few minutes to complete.

The ETA is available for tourism, business, and transit purposes. When you are planning a Sri Lanka tour from India, you need to fill in your passport details, travel itinerary, and accommodation information. Upon approval, the ETA is linked electronically to your passport.

The government fee for Indian nationals is currently zero on the official portal. It is best to apply at least 3 to 5 days before travel since processing usually takes 24 hours but can stretch to 48 to 72 hours during peak season. Your ETA arrives by email, stays valid for 6 months from issue, and allows a stay of up to 30 days per entry. If you apply on arrival at Colombo airport instead, the fee is USD 25 (approx. INR 2,300), so applying in advance is the smarter choice.
