Lying on the banks of the river Satluj, this quaint little village is located about 60 kilometers away from the town of Shimla. In the local tongue, the word “Tattapani” means hot water, and the name derives from the various hot springs that dot the village.

Located in the heart of the mountains, the scenic town of Tattapani boasts of a number of winding rivers and ponds that line the place. The natural splendor of the place is merely enhanced by the vibrant life here, and the cultural monuments in Tattapani.

The natural cover of the village is best explored with a visit to Tattapani’s Adventure Park, a scenic picnic location located on the banks of the river Satluj. The town is also popular for its Shiva Cave, a cave-temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The top attraction of Tattapani, however, is the Hot Water Spring near river Satluj. The water of the natural spring is said to have healing properties, and is visited by travelers from across the world.

The best and most popular sport practiced here is river rafting in river Satluj, which is one of the longest rivers in the world. A number of other sports such as Zorbing, Canoeing and kayaking are also conducted here. Trekking and camping are also popular sports activities here. The scenic town offers a number of small trekking routes, such as the Shikari Devi Peak, Dev Bedrog Peak and Shali Peak.

The general climate in Tattapani is warm and temperate- the summer months experience hot weather with high temperature, while the winters remain cool and pleasant. Rainfall occurs throughout the year in varying degrees, although the precipitation is much less in winters when compared to summers.
