This area is home to the magnificent Sundri or Sundari which is a particular mangrove species. There is an abundance of this mangrove species here which may have led to the name Sundarbans. The name Sundarbans is believed to have been derived from the name of this particular type of mangrove. What are Sunderban National Park safari timings and charges?

Sundarbans can be explored anytime between sunrise and sunsets. No one is allowed to enter the Park after sunset or before sunrise. Below are the timings of the safaris in the Sundarban National Park:

Boat service is available from 8:30 in the morning till 4:00 in the evening. All boats should return by 6:30 PM. No boat services are allowed to go into the mangrove after 6:30.

Safaris are available on all days of the week.

Both AC and non-AC boats are available and large and small ones too.

Night safaris are also available for viewing the phytoplanktons.

What are the things I should keep in mind while visiting Sunderban?

1. Avoid drinking tap or locally available water. Always drink mineral water or coconut water.
2. Do not carry any plastic bags or plastic wrappers as the Sundarbans is a ‘no plastic zone’. 
3. Carry cash as ATMs may not be easily accessible. 
4. Carry a first aid kit with emergency medication for common ailments such as stomach upsets, cold, fever, mosquito repellants, pain killers, ointments for scratches or insect bites, etc.
5. Keep your important documents safe and make sure you have copies of them with you.
6. Wear comfortable, mild colored clothes. Do not wear very bright colors. 
7. Wear shoes that are fit for this kind of terrain and preferably tied ones. Make sure you tie your laces properly.
8. Be sure to carry a flashlight with you along with extra batteries whenever you venture out.
9. Do not enter the National Park area without a valid permit. The permit is available at the Sunderban Tiger reserve’s offices at Canning, Sonakhali, Sajnekhali.

11. Do not throw snack wrappers or any other garbage from the boat/launch into the water.
