An ancient Indian city located in Devbhoomi of Gujarat, Dwarka is one of the most religiously significant places to visit in Gujarat. This city is especially famous for the Hindu legends that circulate it. The temples located here further attract pilgrims from across the country. This city is synonymous with the Dwarka Kingdom, the description of which is found prominently in Hindu scriptures relating to Lord Krishna. 

Dwarka is also revered for its proximity to the Arabian sea and the beauty of its coastline. The island-like vibes and the rocky coasts make it one of the best tourist attractions in Gujarat. 

If you are planning to visit Dwarka, start by exploring the ancient Dwarkadhish temple. This famous pilgrimage site is a 2000-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna. The gorgeous shikara of the temple contains many inscriptions and has sculptures attached to it. The decorative motifs are engraved in the 72 pillars that support the principal shrine of the temple. The temple follows many elaborate rituals and often organizes fairs on religious festivals.

While at the temple, take a quick detour to the attached Dwarka beach. This rocky beach will treat you to once in a lifetime views of the foamy waters of the Arabian sea brushing against the Indian coastline. Other places you should explore include the Rukmini Devi temple, the lighthouse, and the sudama bridge. Some popular activities you can try in the city include shopping for idols and fabrics in the Dwarkadheesh market, water sports like swimming, beach volleyball, and birdwatching at the the Dwarka beach. 

For the most comfortable journey in the city, visit from October to March. The weather during these months is pleasant. Summers in the town are not excruciating either but may entail rains and hot winds.
